My 2 cents.
Discriminer : I don't know much about PKK or Kurdish situation in Iraq and Turkey, I wasn't from there.
But just another day, I was actually thinking of volunteering myself to Iraqi National Army after a brief discussion with my vet, who is an Iraqi Immigrant. And I found that there are only limited entry to do such a feast.
Now, Gill (or Gillian or Gila) Rosenberg is an Canadian-Israeli, to fight on the opposite side of ISIS, she would be only able to join the fight in one of the 4 ways.
1 - Join the Syrian front
2 - Join the Iraqi front
3 - Join the Kurdish Resistance
4 - Join the Lebanese front
No other major player are on this game at the moment.
For me, a Chinese-Mexican Former US Army Captain, I can just pick one and fight with it.
Now, since she is Israeli, she cannot gain access to Syria or Lebanon and fight against ISIS there. And being jewish, she probably not going to get well in Iraq, I am thinking Iraqi troop might probably died before they accept her as one of the fighter with them. Then the only way she can swing is joining up in Kurdish front.
Note that Kurdish did not pay, rather cannot pay for assistant. I have several friend, former US Special Force are now helping the Iraqi and Kurdish separately for their fight against ISIL. They did not charge a cents. For men of their calibre, shall they works in private sector (PMC) they would have earn about 100G per 6 months. And I doubt Kurds or Iraqi Government have that kind of money. If Kurd have this kind of money, the whole ISIL problem probably wont happen in the first place.
Problem is yes, they Kurds Resistance may be a terrorists organisation, and they may have killed many Turkish before, but condemning someone joining PKK is one thing, Demonize them for fighting ISIS is another. You can go ahead and blab about why she join the PKK but unless she knew "minor player" in that war, they would have to be in one of those 4 to help out. Many people want to fight against ISIL, be that Muslim, or non-Muslim. But for them to fight, sometime they wont care which side they are helping, as long as they are against ISIS. She could have sit in Tel Aviv or Montreal and sit back and watch Arab killing other Arab.
And when you come to think of it, this is how ISIS operate and this is why ISIS can gain a lot of ground and a lot of momentum during the first phase of this war. ISIS betting on the different faction in different country will not intervene. Iraqi thought it is a Kurd and Syrian matter and they didn't notice. And Turkey think this is Iraq and Kurds problem and they did not do anything. It is because of this "It is not my problem" thinking and now nearly half of Iraq and half of Syria are now in ISIS hand.
Turkish member here ought to think. Should you condemn the poor woman because she join the PKK and fight against ISIL, or you are just going to demonize her for joining PKK if you do that, then today you may say that, and tomorrow, you may be fighting ISIS yourselves as nobody in this world are going to help. Then it will became Turkey problem, only that you are facing a bigger ISIS and things may get harder to control
By the way, her facebook page is saying that this is a hoax
