If he was that popular (I think only by the Pakistan members), why didn't he took the election route? He could have easily be PM and unload his bombs on India or could have given world its second Hiroshima and Nagasaki!!

Gulbadeen Hikmatyar was one of the more sensible mujaheddin commanders & Pakistan's friend TO DATE. He currently resides in Iran. His faction was one of the first to receive US sponsored weapons, including Stingers. A moderate, and very sensible person.
His terms with the CIA were excellent as well. I'm unaware of what the position is today.
Gen. Hamid Gul was a Pakistani first, and a fierce patriot. His terms with Gulbadeen Hikmatyar were very good, and he knew his family well. Hikmatyar understood Pakistan's strategy in Afghanistan against the Soviets, and was very cooperative. Obviously Guerrilla forces are NOT disciplined standing armies, and have serious issues on the grass roots level, and they were no exception. But the leadership was one of the most cooperative, if not the most cooperative.
After the withdrawal of Soviet forces, infighting broke out between the Mujahideens, as expected, and horrible warlords emerged, this vacuum was filled by the Taliban. When this happened, Hikmatyar, gave up armed struggle, and moved to Iran and resides there till today.

#1. Why mention Indian Members , you SHOULD have used the word "members" , that would reflect the gravity of your seriousness and the need itself, rather showing a biased approach. Or can a US Member speak wrong and Get away ?
#2. The Basic Rules of PDF state that "you must be respectful". Using words like "Thrown Out", ( being a derogatory remark itself ) does not suit a Mod.
If, Being the Judge of other's Action, you yourself cant keep calm , how will you judge/monitor/moderate others. You area Mod for a reason. ( I presume that you do understand, that You are a Moderator of this FORUM , Free to act AS PER RULES )

Why you think Pakistan and Pakistanis are not respected by outsiders? It is because we ourselves do not respect our country and our people. Any sub-animal could vomit any comment about Pakistan and its people but apparently it bothers nobody unless there is an uproar. Try to ridicule 'their' country and 'their' people even the convicted mass murderers and rapists on Bharati fora and you see how quickly you are thrown out, but here as if a tournament is going on on who will sling more mud on Islam, Pakistan, and her people.
One must never forget the conversation between Allama Iqbal and Quid-e-Azam that took place in England. Allama Iqbal wanted Quid-e-Azam (who had left politics) to re-join Muslim League and lead it. Quid-e-Azam's answer was an eternal truth. He said "Hindus are incorrigible i.e. ہندو ناقابل اصلاح ہے۔ ". Whenever I get to browse this forum and read the filth vomited here, I salute to Quid-e-Azam that he had recognized them very well. After all he had 30+ years of experience working with them.

Once you are clear on your association and belonging to this forum it won't hurt when you read comments of people who are supposedly some high breed Pakistanis, mainly the ones who own some big firms and who did something to Pakistani tanks when no other out of 200 million Pakistanis could do.
