Retirement of the raptor is directly correlated to the development of NGAD. I don't see it exiting service until NGAD numbers in the hundreds.

A recent high-level USAF planning document said the F-22 won’t be competitive two decades from now. F-22s might be getting expensive to maintain due to obsolescence issues with part manufacturers due to the small numbers that were built, but given that the US took two years to rebuild a damaged F-22 that had a belly landing a couple of years ago shows how much value they put in the airframe.
I would also look at this as spreading disinformation. F-22 is not going anywhere for the next 30 years.

and putting them in cold storage in Utah is retiring them. And the fact that it takes 2 years to repair a raptor is precisely why they are retiring them because no existing supply chain exists, no spare parts production exist with LM

They tried to revitalize the production of the raptor back in 2018 or something. And the airforce said by the time we get the production working again the world would have already caught up with 5th gen. So we’re just gona put our money in developing a 6th gen aircraft

phasing out the F-22 by 2030 is part of the USAF's plan to the only use 4 fighter jet platforms + 1 if need be, however I don't see the F-22 getting completely phased until the upcoming NGAD is out with a healthy number in service, or unless they can improve on the F-35A fleet.

USAF also just reduced their F-35 order, will cut 10% of the F-35A order, not only that the USAF is also interested in the F-36 "Kingsnake" which will replace the F-16s out over time.

I personally believe we should of boosted the F-22 by building the additional ~194 that we were proposed a couple years ago instead of focusing on procuring the F-16V Block 70/72, F-35A and F-15EX/2040C

what also sucked about the F-22, it also had very good variants that should of been built such as the FB-22 and the F-22 Sea Raptor that was planned for the Navy, however it seems the higher ups in the Air Force don't seem to know what they want, seems there is a big nasty political mess going around the Air Force. On a serious note, I doubt USAF will retire them, they are still unmatched in their capabilities and most likely bedrock for the future Generation fighters. We may see some up-gradation Package for them as well like they did for F-16's,F-15's etc.

So basically the F-22 with a poor repair and supply chain is/was like the Tiger tank of WW2 era, which no matter how capable or reputable the machine was, it was still an abject failure and contributed to the fast decline of The Third Reich.

US general is just talking about one potential scenario in hope of pushing for more funding from the US Congress for a new gen fighter with a new China bogey now. F-22 is more than capable and definitely won't be phasing out by 2030, just watch.

F-22 is unsophisticated. Conclusion. Design in the 80s where computer are still weak. F-22 ram coating are very inferior and expensive compare to J-20. F-22 need air con hangar, constant recoat The conventional inlet is a big expose of RCS due to fan blade not hidden compare to DSI inlet used by J-20 and F-35.

F-22 lack network abilities due to design in 80s where single unit superiority is the concept.

J-20 and F-35 design much later emphasize on situation awareness and network. Massive network enable to coordinate a massive fleet and work peer to peer to wipe out the enemies even in absent of AWACS.

It's a myth. We know the amount of American bragging from their media. F-22 is an outdated product. No situations awareness and lack peer to peer data sharing. J-20 can easily eat them for lunch.
