The new F-16s and J-10 will knock F-14s out of the sky.
What's the point of having such an old aircraft and also one that was maintenance heavy?

F-14 was a top fighter in its prime it never received the intended upgrades required but F-14D was a real deal with its massive Digital APG-71 radar having multiple AA and AG modes was far more lethal machine than its replacement The super bug. But anyhow Tomcats days are numbered they are history.

just 10 or 15 2 perform the same duty as it did when in the us navy mainly for the pak navy

A good number of any type of plans make maintenance/ training economical, for 10 to 15 planes what facilities can be established.

facilities you can come up the thing is you have to look at the bigger pic F-14 can do what the f-16 dose BUT BETTER only ace the f-16 has up its seleve is its a littel more monoverbale than the F-14 but a goood piolt can counter that

some have been put on stands outside bases some gone 2 the museum some scraped and the parts recycled 2 other planes but i know 20 to 30 are in storage at montana air force base just in case

Despite what Iran wants everyone to think, there was a reason the F-14 was retired. The Phoenix missile was a bomber-killer, and not suitable for modern air-air combat. The F-14 was engineered primarily to defend the U.S. fleet from Soviet bomber gaggles; along with the AIM-54, it could carry the AIM-9, AIM-7, and AMRAAM. But so can the F-16, which will do so with less fuel and maintenance.

The F-14 ruled for about 2 years, until the F-15 flew, then the F-16.

see what you think and what pakistan is missing YouTube - 201's Last Carrier Takeoff

Instead of wasting time a resources on developing an infrastructure for a plane that is decades old and which, by the time our engineers and pilots get enough experience to master, will be nothing less than an antique, we should focus on inducting J-10. There, now lets not waste any more time discussing this.

i think Pakistan should work on Naval version if JF-17 for its navy because its cheep and is easy to maintain

you hit the nail on the head.... CHEAP....pakistan dont need CHEAP pakistan needs multi range fighter with long range and packs a mighty punch F-16 cant j-10 still to prove it self so it only leaves the f-14 think if it like every says so its this it that old etc etc why has iran still kept its f-14 in service after all its got tons of $$$ through its oil and can get the latest mig from russia becouse it knows the true value of the f-14 proved in 80s iran/iraq war

f86 saber seen most of the trucks and buses in pakistan..? when has pakistan had the latset of anything... and the f-16 aint young either f-14 d model is pre 80s frame with latest avonics, like umair86pk sayes

The F-14 was a twin - engined heavy Fighter which wad the Purpose to Protect CSG against Soviet Bombers, for this Purpose it was armed with AIM-54. In Todays it makes no sense for PAF to induct the F-14 which is allready retired in US Navy from Service. I doubt that Pakistan could recieve Upgrades for F-14 to keep the Fighter on Todays technologic level.

As a heavy Fighter the F-14 have a big RCS and can not Operate from small Airstips or Motorways, to fullfill the defensive operational Requirements of PAF. Until Today PAF have not inductet a twin engined Fighter Aircraft.

F-6 of PAF was twin engine fighter!

simpel 2 take of from the runway if its 2 short wich i think pakistan has not you put a cat shot on the run way hook the jet up like you would if on a boat push the button and away ,tried and tested method by the U.S if pakistan could get its hands on the F-14 D the J-10 F-16 AND F-14 with its full weeapons load depending on what mission its on , india would surely be scraching its head and its nees shaking the above is a crazey combo for any one 2 come up 2

India most likely will go for F-16, F-18 or Eurofighter. Why should we go for F-14 when we can have MIG-35?
