Featured Exports fall but trade balance improves

Below is the data of top 10 imports from China by value in 2018. Out of 60.2 billion in overall imports for that year. This will answer both of your questions, I have seen so many people use this argument just because they got fooled by propaganda.

'China's exports to Pakistan amounted to
$14.6 billion or 24.3% of its overall imports.

1. Electronic equipment: $3.1 billion
2. Machinery: $3.1 billion
3. Iron and steel: $1.1 billion
4. Organic chemicals: $866.9 million
5. Fertilizers: $689.7 million
6. Man-made filaments: $538.9 million
7. Iron or steel products: $531.7 million
8. Plastics: $481.6 million
9. Vehicles: $418 million
10. Man-made staple fibers: $266.6 million'

The data I shared was just for IPP's. You can just search for government projects. Just for heads up work on 3 major dams is underway in this government term. Diamer, Mohmand, Dasu. I will share more when I find time.

Most of the power plants were imported from GE, Germany. Cement plants from FLS Denmark.

As I mentioned before Denmark exports to Pakistan in 2018 were 105.2 million dollars (0.1% of its total exports)

Besides what does the term mean? 'Plant to power cement' ? Power Cement is name of the respective company in 2017.

One more thing to keep in mind is that total project cost does not mean total machinery cost (import).

These are just two examples, production capacity of Pakistan Cement industry was increased by 50% since the years of 2017-18, almost all the plants started expansion of their production capacity.

So u r trying to tell us that caapcity utilization reduced from 77 percent to 69 percent?

Stop spreading bull shit so to justify an increase in CAD from average 2 billion dollars to 19 billions u r showing us investment of few hundred million?

Capacity increase is not something unique. It was happening before pmln as well. Look at all the previous data it is a consistent trend

If you recall our discussion is not about cement but machinery imports in general (all types), which you falsely attributed as the cause of increase in imports. This is what propaganda and half baked stats force people to believe.

Capacity utilization has gone down from 94% to 69%.
Why this investment is not happening now??
If thirty to forty new production lines will be imported in an year that is will increase your import bill, it is one time phenomena, next years the import bill was bound to reduce, but actually it is good import, it will create jobs and repay its loan itself.

Please read the article carefully as this elaborates the status as of May 2018.
Cement industry capacity increase happened during later part of 2018, as for them 2018 means from Jan to Dec. Whatever the import component is divided between FY 2018 (Jul17-Jun18) FY 2019 (July18-Jun19) to my understanding.
Most import I gave you figures of machinery imports from respective countries, that INCLUDES THESE PLANTS IMPORT COMPONENT. Unless you are saying they were smuggled.
The overall cost of the whole expansion is quoted at 1.37 billion, the machinery import component should not be more than 50%.

A plant, especially cement plant takes 2 to 2.5 years for assembling/erecting after import.

That is exactly what the article says. It also covers the construction progress as of May 2018 for the whole of 18.8Mta capacity increase, when will they be fully operational as well.
The import of machinery is done in various stages from the start till finish.

Expansion was done between different plants between 2016-2018.

The article clearly mentioned how much work was done in 18.8 Mta expansion/new projects by May 2018 that is 46% , also mentions the capacity in May 2018 which was 49.44 Mta.

The problem with your analysis is you are trying to justify propaganda by Plmn media cell, which is not possible logically. I clearly showed you the statistics of overall machinery imports as compared to total imports.
