Export bids for JF-17 Thunder Multirole Lightweight Fighter Aircraft

I am not sure what exactly you are asking.
We have heavy end fighter fleet of Su30MKI's and will be procuring Rafale and PMF FGFA, on the medium spectrum - We operate Mirage I 2K and Mig29 UPG, on the light spectrum we need an aircraft to replace aging fleet of Mig21's and Mig27 and add 5 additional squadrons to maintain operation capability.
This is where Delays in LCA has hurt us. We do not intend to replace Light fighter requirement with twin engine Long range Air Dominance or medium Weight Omnirole platforms.

Actually I am also trying to judge are we on the verge of air attack so that we induct the fighter planes in hurry.

FC-1 got an export order from Myanmar marketed by China which was designed by China (Yes Pakistan has 54% share on the profits on export )and talks and negotiation for the local production is going so why so many Pakistani members are emotionally over excited and making fun of Lca Tejas (not TEJA)

1. India could have serious threat but from Plaaf but not from PAF. Yes the squadron number have reduced from the approved level, but the capability in terms of quality has increased exponentially.
Yes I understand that they feel very proud for F-16 and are very obsessed with this plane but India too have MIG 29UPG for air superiority, mirrage 2005 Multirole Mission and Jaguar (Darlin UPG) for dedicated ground attack and SEAD and DEAD mission. With long legged Su30mki with much weapon load and nos which can be positioned from one front to another due to long range I don't see any threat. And also add Indian Navy aviation mig 29K.

2. Regarding butthurt jealous stuff what is the problem for india for jf-17 export. Whether it is a 4th gen or 4.5th gen fact is India is in not in any race for export market so Tejas will take its own time because IAF want all the features and weapons to be tested, added and certified from the day one which is in the process so why so fuss.

3. India is not cash strapped nor sanctioned country and can buy fighter from usa, russia, france, germany, sweden may be from china also. India is not a industrial giant like china but did have a very big automobile industry but remember Psu's like DRDO and HAL are also not a small organisation. If the need arises the manufacturing capacity together with the pvt company like TATA and Mahindra which too have good experience in airframe manufacturing can
manufacture the planes in no time.

and india's growing defence industry is for india only and not for export



the project started on 1975 where india was able to identify that in the future that it will need to replace the mig 21 and mig 27 the idea was brilliant, genius. it's India being prepared for the future. but i think this idea did not trickle down to the government and those stalling such developments. and prevented it from happening sooner. at the time the jet was supposed to be released the jet would be good. but now 15 years later it's not worth it for india. the more you develop it the more you embarrass your self.
So also did the capabilities.

For India, the LCA project was aimed at staging a comeback into the arena of aircraft R & D (after a 25-year gap) and creating a supporting an industrial eco-system that would own the majority of the IPRs generated by this R & D effort. The spinoffs of this effort can today be seen in the Su-30MKI project & the projected Super Su-30MKI project & the Jaguar IS/DARIN-3 programme & in future ther Tejas Mk2 project.

you're right. Myanmar will get the jf17's Pakistan will provide servicing and maintenance. so for a country exporting their first fighter is something that should be celebrated to an extent. and indian trolls just add furl to the fire by making fun of this and claiming its Chinese and so one. but it a joint 50/50 venture. also provide a source to where Pakistan gets 54% of profits, as thats most likely false.

with point one Pakistanis do talk about the f16 a lot. but i think thats false morale. as Pakistan has its eyes on a more potent airframe fc-20, fc-31. and as for the rest of point one i have nothing to say as you're right.

point 2. iaf wants the jet badly and will obviously take its time with induction of new systems and features which is good. but the actual development of the jet its self is down to hal. the jet took way to long to develop/build. and it design is now seen as obsolete by european, north-american and asian analysts and also you own air force has doubts of the capability of the jet. so yeah i do feel the tejas is a failure. but its a good failure as its a good learning experience for future developments.


point 3 the thread does not doubt india ability to purchase jets from other countries aborad. but was one of the sticking points of the rafale cost? yes i do know the price was increased after announcing the winner. and France does have a tendency to sort of squeeze as much money out of countries as possible. tata is a good company, theres not denying that. tata is already producing c295's for india any way and i would expect the quality of the jet to be the same as it european and Indonesian counterparts. yes Indonesia did build the c235.

dont worry about it. india and Pakistan will never see eye to eye. but that does not mean the people should follow suit.

i am a neutral person on pdf. if i feel if india is doing some thing good then i will say it.

thats why pakistan and china are exporting it. to replace the mig 21 and the j-7's not all countires can afford and maintain mig 29's
jf-17 = 95 % F-16 C/D.now you can guess the fighter jets capability.Pakistan n china never gives full specs.they have alot of suprises hidden for their enemies

I am not sure how many projects you have managed, but from my experience I can tell you that it doesn't matter when a G0 for project concept was done, Unless your CER's are approved and you receive funding a project doesn't really start.. But then again you are here not to learn but to teach, so I am not going to argue any further. You might as well say LCA began in 1947 for all I care.

We can pick up that discussion on another thread. But do think about what capabilities you are missing out due low service rate of Mig21's, and Mig 27's and un availability of required numbers of MMRCA and LCA.

you are right. do you honestly believe the lca concept would just be developed in hope that the government decides to back it? the project was launched in 1975. serious development accrued at a later stage early/mid 80's. thats when you probably got news of the project and most probably did.

i find it quiet naive of you to bring up 1947. and i am under the impression your indirectly calling me a Pakistani !

Tejas was a dead project from the beginning. India's only continuing on with it because it's important for their morale.

with the jf17 you say they are building 150. to replace the j-7 and the miragesIII/v the j-7 and total mirage fleet go toa combined total of 343.

do you think that paf is cutting the air force in half? or are they to be subsidised with other jets

I am mentioning air craft of "considerable" importance only and those whose arrival is 100% sure......... F7 PG will stay by 2019 May be......... plans r induction of 250 Thunders total, 108 F16, and another possible plate form which could be J10b or any Chinese or Russian Flanker in limited numbers, like36 .......

Full plan for F-17 is 250 as replacement for Mirage and F-7.. @Tipu7 says about 2018 and new F-7pg's and some upgrade mirage's have still life of some more years.. there might be a third jet option if not then F-16s no. will be increased..
No more new F7 PG bro...... However F7P can be upgraded to PG standard. Others wise all Mirages and Thunderbolt s need to in year or two.......

Another flying coffin for iaf.

Tejas was never focused for the export nor does the weapon export was priority for the DRDO/HAL or any govt PSUs nor India have much experience in marketing and support for the product. India itself has a huge market and the govt emphasis is on reducing the import in defense sector.
