Expansion essential to make UN security council credible: India

The world has changed drastically since WWII. If the UN, world bank and IMF continue to be dominated by Europe and U.S.,, especially World Bank and IMF, I think China should simply withdraw its membership. Paying membership fees without much say sucks.

well India has everything to be a powerful country except a true 'decesion maker' leader. Modi is a known 'decision maker', no matter what his own party says. He do what he thinks is right and not like MMS who is a known slave of Madam jee.

The UNSC has operated perfectly well for 68 years without India.

So yes, UNSC can DEFINITELY do without India. By the constant barking by irrelevant Indian leaders about UNSC reform, it seems India CANNOT do without the UNSC

India just has a large population but no power and influence even in its own region. China has more influence in South Asia than India does

India didn't do jack in WW2. India has a tiny economy. India has no domestic military-industrial complex. Basically India has no economic power, no military power and thus no political power.

India always choose neutral positions in major geopolitical issues which means it cannot do anything that hurts the feeling of the west. Therefore India brings absolutely nothing to the UNSC.

India needs an independent foreign policy first before anyone takes India as a serious global power. The only time India becomes relevant is when a major power like the US wants to use India as a mere pawn to counterbalance another major power like China.

India is never the major power itself, it's always just a pawn being used as a chess piece by another major power.

This is why no one takes India seriously and even the western media never criticise India, it's because India is not a major power that can keep the west in check. So the west basically ignores India.

India is a good poodle to use for the west. That's all India will ever be despite the boasting Indians do.

througheye already covered the gist of it. I will expand a bit on his point. Pretty much everyone knows the purpose of UN is to ensure peace and stability of the world. However, the specific mechanism to achieve this purpose is often less discussed. Basically, UN is built around the UN permanent security council, because these nations account for the bulk of the military and more important military production capability on the planet.

Absolute nonsense!!..When China got the permanent security seat it had none of the features you are talking about, no??....

Anyhow let me try to explain the gist of what we are trying to say...How long can you continue with the same model because balance of power is going to change and in fact is changing...New power houses are emerging and power houses of 1945 are dwindling as well....Are we waiting for a World War III and their winners to chose a new Security council which will then be changed by the winners of World War 4??

In other words, UN is providing a place for the most power military powers in the world to work out their difference peaces instead of slugging it out in the field.
Know this, the latest fighters and most advanced missiles are only produced by members of permanent security council, the most of the third generation MBT are produced by permanent security council, the most advanced naval vessels are produced by permanent security council, bulk of guns and bullets and pretty much most of the hardware required to fight a war is produced by members of the permanent security council.
Basically, a country is a member of UN permanent security council because it is a powerful country, not the other way around.

Security council with the so called veto power is a flawed concept and that is why today's UN is nothing but a joke...This VETO power has been abused like anything by these 5 members based on their national interests...In other words it is like saying UN is all about these 5 nations national interests while other countries are just pawn in the great game...Ridiculous to the core!!
