Exclusive: TikTok's Chinese owner offers to forego stake to clinch U.S. deal - sources

only the US branch were sold, which I think will soon die without tech support from the mother company ByteDance.

actually McDonald sold its branch in China to a Chinese consortium in 2017. By your logic China owns McDonald now.
So that's why McDonalds improved in recent years. It was not even edible until a few years ago.

It's worthless and you're paying for it.

You'd call it a win if a black man started having sex with your wife instead of a Chinese man, that's your standard of winning basically.
Lol laughing out loud at that analogy. Good one.

LOL people can just change their location settings to use the real TikTok not the Microsoft TikTok. Microsoft is buying a business they will be competing with on day one.
I dunno about the US version but in India you cannot access Tiktok even via VPN

I actually visit this forum for the original & acerbic jokes ( other than military photos).
Many members are obviously bright people because their retorts come fast, painful and funny. :D

China’s only globally influential app has now been significantly undercut by the US.

China can't even project soft power from Tik-Tok because of their dumb censorship laws which disallow Chinese users to use the international version.

From my personal experience, the algorithms actually further strengthened the US's soft power because most of popular videos are from the US.

Indeed, most of the popular accounts are Americans.

The irony. Chinese Apps strengthening the US's influence because of its own dumb policies, and now it's the US's turn to implement dumb policies which possibly cut its own influence.

Sure. Let's just allow Facebook in China to keep inciting anti China news and invite more riots in Xinjiang. China still cards to play. They are not followers like Canada.
Are you high? Do you know who you're talking to? I'm probably the most pro-China member of this site. What do you and the others here crying and whining about fairness are doing other than giving the OP the satisfaction of responding to his trolling?

When you've lost a round, you cut your losses, build your strength, and focus on the next round. That's what winners do; losers cry and whine about fairness.

China will continue to play second fiddle. Learn to accept it Poobah.
Well trolled, the children here have taken your bait and reacted exactly how you wanted. But I assure you, this changes nothing. Countries do not rise to power and dominance off teen attention-whoring social media apps, they rise by industry, they rise by innovation, they rise by technology, and they rise by military strength and political unity. You have done nothing to alter China's ascension and you will never be able to. In the grand scheme, TikTok doesn't even merit being considered an insignificant setback.

McDonald is just burger flippers, restaurants are actual physical objects not software like the TikTok app, so when they sell a restaurant they lose just that restaurant in that area, TikTok is an app, if the patents and name of TikTok is sold to Microsoft then there is no such thing as "losing TikTok just in the US while still having it be Chinese everywhere else" if the TikTok app is sold to Microsoft then it will be 100% owned/operated by the US/CIA in every place in the world except in China.

That's not what the article says. Nobody has ever brought up selling TikTok's business outside of the US. It's never been for sale.

So how does that work? I mean TikTok is just a software not a physical thing.
It's not like they would just sell the servers in the US while keeping the TikTok app Chinese.

As I said Poobah, China will continue to play second fiddle to the United States. China is the 9.92 Olympic sprinter who is not quite good enough to compete with the 9.7-9.8 Gold medalist. World class, but not good enough to stack up with the very best.

Finally MAGA becoming a reality.

What a great accomplishment by trump

Who is crying about fairness? Some Chinese members here? The world is not fair that's reality. What I said is China did the right thing not allowing foreign internet companies in China abd decveloped their own. As you can see how FB, Instagram, etc brainwashed the youths in HK.

Microsoft may not buy TikTok after all. TikTok could be out of USA. Reason

1. All US social media and big tech such as FB, Google, MS are anti-trump
2. Social media is now a tool for destabilization (see HK)

Trump is now exacting revenge or US big tech got to offer large compromise to Trump faction the deal to get green light.

You are a myopic fool, lacking profound historical perspective, though you have apparently enjoyed good education, and well paid job. You represent the typical disaster of the Singapore system, and the sinister outcome of Lee Kuan Yew suppressing Chinese culture.

Nothing can so low like you taking the Indian stance -- shown in previous thread of Galwan valley. Very low, very stupid.

Now you cannot even see a the fear and paranoid of US elites, when Chinese social media mounting fledgling challenges on the monopoly of Facebook and Google. Not a single Europe startup can take on US social media in such way.

Social media is a tool of color revolution (see facebook role in Hong Kong, and middle east). Now US is afraid, very afraid of TikTok.

You glorified superior white man soft power, and you are dismissive of China's emerging soft power, as evidence by prestige of TikTok over many of rivals.

You are a waste of money. GoS made a wrong choice hiring you as 5Mao in PDF and spending on your education.
