After reading a bit further.. India could not refuse as there was a big delegation in Egypt recently .. they wanted to be in the Suez economic zone and even take China's place.. so they made an offer with TOT.. but In light of the intense visits between officials of Pakistan and Egypt, led by the Egyptian Minister of Defense, and knowing that this is a primary goal of the Egyptian leadership.. Pakistan came along and made a better offer. two cruise missiles Ra'ad and Babur.. which is being finalized now..

The question is, why should Pakistan jointly produce when it has already done it?

NOTE: If the news is true

Pakistan probably going to develop new conventional versions which will adhere MTCR rules based on existing RA'AD and Babur Missiles in this JV with Egypt. We have the example of BrahMos missile JV which is based on P-800 Oniks missile of Russia which have 800 Km range, but original version of BrahMos had only 290 Km range.

And reference of unsuccessful attempt of Egypt to acquire BrahMos missiles indicate Egypt was seeking missile having range under 300 Km as India offer BrahMos missile only with 290 km range.

We can have same arrangements for conventional RA'AD and Babur missile or some thing similar in concept which @Bilal Khan (Quwa) usually term as 'RA'AD light missile', we also have a need for such system to fill the gap between +100 km REK and 350 Km RA'AD-I, so if this happen then it mean we might have a partner to share Financial burden while all the related technology required for this venture already exist in Pakistan.

Sales of this conventional missile compliant with MTCR rules would not be an issue for many global players, we already have many such examples of sales of cruise missiles from France/UK and even from America the only country which may have issues with it might be Israel, as it will be a capability boost to Egyptian Military.

If it is true then we are in for something extraordinary.

Please understand that till now we have no information regarding this news. Most likely we will have nothing coming out in media from ISPR.
Lets assume that this news is true still we can not get the exact information of the agreement i.e. details. We are assuming that this is a joint manufacturing or a kit based assembly based agreement but what if it is not. It is something else like a JV based on these missiles to develop something new.


If true then Pakistan would need to reduce the rage drastically. IMO we are missing something.


There are ways to get around MTCR. Storm Shadow missile has a range of 500 nm hence it can not be sold still in reality its being sold.

Its strange why Egypt wanted to purchase BrahMos rather than the original Russian P800 Oniks. Egypt and Russia are good friends and Russia would have no problem to give its technology.

That kind of cooperation only happen between long term strategic allies, people here keep bringing Brahmos but they don't understand that it's not Russian primary strategic deterance while Pakistan's CM are primary strategic weapons, and no one sell it's primary strategic weapons in International market due to obvious reasons.
