Please define Serbian? As far as they are concerned their Serbian church was recognized in 1219, and from it they started to create their identity. As you know, serb identity is grounded in their church. Prior to 1219, the “serb” identity was not well defined and identity was fluid back then. Especially serbs who primarily followed their faith in greek or bulgarian prior to 1219. Talk about coming late to the party.

The Illyrians (modern Albanians) have been in the Balkans since ancient times, along with Greeks and to say Serbs who stem from a slavic tribe which migrated to the balkans in the 8th century has preferential possession rights to the land is crazy talk. This is hoax, linguistically and culturally, the Illyrian culture has nothing to do with the Albanian. It is scientifically proven that the Albanian language appeared 1500-2000 years after the Illyrian.

The name of Albania located also in ancient times in the Caucasus, mostly in what is now Azerbaijan. This does not mean that today's Albanians or Squipetars of the Balkans come from the Caucasus.
There is a linguistic and archeological process to prove scientifically the process of existence (birth, movement, settlement) of a nation. In neither of them is it proven that today's Squipetars are related to ancient peoples.
E.g. Greek ethnogenesis went back 400 years because it was only 70 years ago, the Linear B script was decoded and linked to the Greek language.
