To me it makes sense if you were just doing 3 for globemaster, but would make less sense if you wanted to do maybe 10-15.
Obviously you would need a cheaper to operate variant, but Super hercules would still be better.
But I get it you didn't oeprate it then, what about now, any plans for the next generation AEW based on C-130.
Though I also heard India is working on its own medium transport after Tejas, any truth to this?
KJ-200 is the beam version on a Shanxi Y-8.
KJ-2000 is a AESA radar based on L-76.
The next generation will incorporate new technology from the ZDK-03 designed for Pakistan and from our own naval radars and other radar researches, and it will be based on Y-9.
KJ-500 is the one on top, KJ-200 is on the bottom.

KJ-500 and KJ-3000 will make up of the next generation of AEW&C for China, KJ-3000 is the next generation radar most likely based on the new Y-20, whenever that's ready.
