X-Files was good in the beginning, but got boring after a while.
The whole "cigarette smoking man" conspiracy crap was a yawn fest.

The early episodes were mostly stand alone. You missed an episode, it was no big deal.
Once they started weaving a long-winded story line spanning the whole series, I lost interest.
