Do we (Paks) want to copy Chinese culture or just JF-17?

I see a lot of chest beating (and well deserved in some cases) about joint projects with china,

where we copy Chinese defense tech
then use our labor to produce more of the defense items copied.

However I do not see a serious effort on our part to ask a simple question.

--- Are we trying to copy JF-17
without ever realizing

-- that JF-17 is the product of Chinese culture

And if we agree on this,

Do we want to copy just the things like JF-17

without ever becoming "chinese" in our pursuit of basic knowledge, traditions, habits, etc that allowed Chinese to build high tech equipment?

If we don't ask this question,
or don't take an action

Then we'll remain a passive and dumb copy cats for a long long long time.

And it is likely that Chinese will start shunning us because the only thing common between us and them will be our passive copying of their machines.

We'll never be able to build and MAInTAIN people to people contacts due to stark difference in culture.

Man i dont know why you are always so obsessed with portraying Pakistan's Negative image..i'll just give you one example...i am a student of engineering and studying in UET,about a year ago there was event DICE held in UET in which Chancellor of NUST General AbaidUllah was chief guest...someone asked him the same ques why we copy chinese products?? and he replied No we Do not,we have many products that we made on our own...He said that AutoLoader and Other electronics of Al-Khalid Tank was made by Pakistan and Chinese was so impressed that they implement our tech,same thing he said about JF-17's electronics though i dont remember them coz it was a year ago...if you dont believe me i'll show you the video and if you want to meet him,go to EME you will find him there... and for the record "you have a habbit of degrading Pakistan"...!

If Pak cooperates with China then there is nothing wrong in this...you have to learn something before you implement something of your own...now with collaborating with China Pakistani engineers if not 100% then atleast 50,60% knows about jet planes manufacturing...Learning is always the 1st step dear friend..you call it Copying ,i call it Learning...!

Will that "degrading my brother", or "encouraging him to work harder"?

I second your thoughts @FaujHistorian and completely agree with you.

We started on the same level as the Chinese. They were as poor as us, we as them. They prospered, we didn't. A close comparison can also be possibly made between us and japan. They were completely destroyed after the war. The differences lie in our cultures, or more precisely between the relative maturity level of people.

Both China and Japan placed outmost importance on education of the masses. Secondly, the governments were consistent in development activity. I can compare many more aspects where we are different from them, but the moral of the story is as pointed out by faujhistorian that we need to learn from their cultures, and copy their good aspects. They're Asians. We already have much in common like family values. We should better understand their cultures, and instead try to copy asian cultures rather than western (which are tearing apart our society). Otherwise we will lose respect with asian countries as well.

i agree with you,but there is a decent way of doing this,the way you asked this ques it seems like Pakistanis are so Nalaiq that they cant even make a needle....!

Let's not take any further step and stop and think: what really is the reason that China and japan became economic giants? Can you think of any reasons? Lets brainstorm together.
