It was made compulsory just 4-5 years back. The total shift takes at least 10 years,for the students in kindergarten have to reach 10/12th standard .

It is good. Northeast people need to learn and preserve our individual languages and culture.
But none of my manipuri friends write it.

It is good, but they alone can't claim to be the sole custodians of native culture in NE. Did you hear what the guy had to say about us Assamese. People like them are our real enemies, not our neighbours.
