I dont see anything wrong with urdu being official language. But iwud make urdu and eng both official. And majority of documentation is in english, thats fine, if they put in extra effort and translate to urdu terms, such that both urdu and english texts are there , nothing is really wrong with it.Sadly in Pakistan, backward tribal thinking keeps on harping on urdu as official language.
This is all the while in our country for the last 70 years (and almost 90 years before 1947):
-- 90% + of ALL documentation / communication in higher Education is in English
-- 90% + of ALL documentation / communication in higher courts is in English
-- 90% + of ALL documentation / communication in army/military is in English
-- 90% + of ALL documentation / communication in ministries is in English
-- 90% + of ALL documentation / communication in corporate sector is in English
-- 90% + of ALL documentation / communication in higher level Police is in English
And yet, small but vocal section of Karachi and Lahore Elite keep on harping about Urdu as "official" language as Urdu.
This is nothing but neo-colonial mindset so prevalent among this small but vocal section of elite.
And why to forget that Pakistan is blessed with expertise in English rivaled only by a handful of regions around the world.
Other people look at us in awe when we can easily switch between English and Urdu and possibly a third language (like Punjabi, Pushto, Sindhi or Balochi).
This type of strength should be encouraged in today's global village.
Instead some of us want to drag us back to 1900 AD.
and some even back to the sand dune Biduin days of 600 AD.
What a sad state of affairs.
We all right in perfect English, that we should replace English with Urdu.
What an irony.
What the heck is wrong with some people.

And u said in pakistan english is spoken quite well.i thinku were being sarcastic. U know majority of schools have what standard of teaching for english. Yes therr are pakistanis welll versed in it but that doesnt speak for any cross section of population.
I honestly dont want urdu to die down and any other language to take its place. Language attrition is ugliest of the things.
Omg u spoke my mind. I loveeeee urduuuuuuuu
