Casualty number is inflated no doubt but many people died there is no doubt.
The figure is a political capital in Bangladesh so possibility of recovering actual number not possible maybe.

There is Indian and Bengali narrative that Pakistan Army killed 3 million Bengalis. This is mere propaganda as author of this article has refuted many claims with figures and eyewitness accounts.

This was an Indian sponsored state terrorism and we should call it what it was. Bangladesh creation was partly our folly but more of an Indian subversion.

According to indian/bengali logic, the PA in 1971 defied the laws of Physics. 30,000-50,000 PA troops managed to kill 3 million bengalis and at the same time rape 10 million bengali women in 6 weeks. indian/bengalis claim this is a fact yet till date have NEVER EVER been able to provide IRREFUTABLE, GENUINE, RELIABLE, HONEST & COMPELLING evidence that this happened. Therefore we can safely assume they are both LYING.

I would suggest you to please read the history...... better to accept fault and move on. History has been written in book and nobody can change with any arguments.

BD’s own investigation during Mujib’s time put the figure of dead at 230K. He suppressed it of course!!! Politicians need some dramatic numbers to play in the arena of politics. By the by, when Bhutto came to Dhaka in 1974 to invite Mujib to an OIC meeting, folks thronged into the streets in such large numbers to greet him that BD paramilitary had to disperse them by force!!!

Interestingly, none of Mijib’s or his chief cohorts’ family members died in 1971. However, they were killed by scores in 1975 by BD folks themselves without any remorse whatsoever!!!

And, Mujib himself killed 40K ex Mukti Bahini Terrorists (MBT) when they defied his “one party one leader under India” rule and resorted to robbery, murders etc.!! Not to mention the one million folks that persished during a man made famine in 1974 due to wide spread corruption, his mismanagement, smuggling of relief goods to India etc..

And, many ex Pak Army officers, who joined MBT, killed one another via coups, betrayals etc. They lived by treachery, and they died by treachery...

I already said the 3 million figure is disputed. But there is documented evidence on the genocide, whatever the actual number is.

The intention was to exterminate Hindus and their influence from East Pakistan. As I said, the ratio of Hindu population in Bangladesh fell from over 25% to less than 15% after the war. There are also some famous pictures of Pak military checking if the captured men are circumcised or not to determine their religion.

The famine part is also true, it was partly due to the massive looting by Indian Army in Bangladesh after the war.
