Defence.pk hit by DoS attacks after GoI list leak

DDoS attack, AJTR, not the blocking - although I object to that too since its against the fundamental tenet of freedom but I can listen to the argument about immediate danger. Even there we were not approached by GoI through valid channels and were not given a chance to help them out.

If there are million wb pages then do you expect GOI to notify each one of them.it will simply block the urls.but the PDF itself is not blocked only the urls are blocked of 4 threads which i cant access but many other in india can as confirmed by Labong in morning.i think its ISP to ISP issue.

And what makes you think GOI is ddosing pdf ..till yesterday it were banned indians and pakistani members who were being blamed for ddosing.Isnt that u r simply shooting in dark regarding ddosing issue.

It's ironic that you guys are suddenly giving so much importance to freedom of speech, considering that you don't allow anyone to utter a single word against the administration/management of this forum in public. People get perm banned, username get defaced, post counts get manually decreased and so on. DDoS attack between rival forums is very common, there is nothing new in it.

And there's also a certain way of asking the same websites to do the blocking/housecleaning by themselves, rather then doing it for them.

We did not publish anything, you the users did. We have a history of allowing users to run debates as they see fit, only reason it was removed still was because it was too graphic... If it was wrong info, simply point it out.

Other than that you are ignoring that we are being DDoSed, your service quality of this forum is affected. You don't realize how unfair this is. By releasing that list India painted a target on us for all Indians who have the skills to attack us.

See, your post was not deleted, nor was an infraction issued. Rather an Admin himself would probably answer you and clarify your queries. That's the freedom we promote.

Could be them, they are also highly motivated. They could have also gone around asking for us to be attacked citing our name on that list. I don't want to pin it on them - I have no evidence.

Its just a suspicion, I've not said anything with surety. We don't discuss other forums here as we don't fight wars here. So lets drop this. Why give our rivals publicity? They are foolish enough to talk about us, we don't want to do the same.

There is nothing common about it. If we know for sure (as in can prove it in a court), we'll ensure the person(s) rot in jail for a long time.

About freedom of speech - that entails to the political debate on this forum regarding Pakistan - not about us. We are a privately run forum and your first amendment rights don't apply on the forum a private entity. But as a matter of business we conduct ourselves in a way where you have total freedom of speech within the norms of civility and in context of political debate.

Well probably that is why I'm not a member of BR. But just like you have your reasons to curb freedom to some extent, GOI has its own to block contents that may cause communal violence and accusing GOI of DDoS attack without proof is hogwash. It is one thing to block certain contents and another to DDoS an internet forum.

I am living proof that dissent as part of civil discourse and discussion is perfectly permissible, as is criticism, on DefPk.
