Interesting video where former Air Marshals Shahid Lateef and Yousuf Chaudhry discuss the purchase of F-16s, its history in PAF, why they are needed, and other topics.

Good discussion.

They say Pakistan is paying 40% of the cost and this was not a new other, but extension of a previous contract signed earlier.

i felt the same khan sahab but i also know what Shahid Latif would say. He would bring up economy and $$$$. And that's the truth you heard the Indian shopping list and the only reason thry have this list because $$$$$$. no question in regards to SU35 rumor or a hard question which would be "MR Latif you just said that airpower is the most important factor in modern conflicts then where is our Air superiority fighter?because i dont think F16 is one if it was why would Israelis get F15s and they love f15s more than f16s."

The money argument doesn't hold. We do have millions of dollars each time to spend on the F-16. Even if we are paying a part of the deal. Yet, we never have the money to acquire a different platform. That just doesn't add up. It is all about setting priorities. Right now, the PAF has a bigger priority getting their hands on more F-16s. This is very apparent because after the Americans made the offer, the Pakistanis simply obliged.

Time has come to be a little more critical. Various experts and even the PAF has already admitted the dire need for an advanced aircraft. We either save up money for an advanced aircraft instead of each time doling out cash for more F-16s or just stop acknowledging that we have other requirements. We can't have both I'm afraid.

Grow up kid---real world is very different---. Just because he is a pilot does not mean he knows every thing---. He projects what he wants to---.

It is called PROFESSIONAL TUNNEL VISION---. To overcome that issue---businesses hire outsiders to come look and tell them what their shortcomings are----.

They should be given the North Korean treatment---.

The sub deal is not signed and money has been diverted to pay for nuke plants. So at the moment we are really broke. To top it all off 16 billion $ worth of loans are maturing this year so your reserves are going to take a nose dive. More loans from IMF will mean more of hassle and political instructions.

It is of no offence---but it is sad to see that the young ones are so blind.

They have earned their wings to fly aircraft---but have failed in getting aircraft in a timely manner.
