Defence budget raised by 11.6pc to Rs781 billion

You are right on both accounts. As the Pakistani economy grows, they'll start to announce the actual budget. By 2018, the defense budget would be around Turkey's, around $ 18 billion. Pakistan is now a "developing" country, not an "underdeveloped" country. As the economy grows, so will her influence, and power projection per her size and needs.

There is no arms race going on. But the Pakistani economy has started to take off so the $$$$ are coming in. Which means, as a natural foe of India (and vis-a-vis), anything India buys, Pakistan will make sure they have the minimum deterrence for India's Pakistan specific fleet. That's just its going to be. 5 years from now, India's Pakistan specific fleet will no longer have 2:1 or 3:1 advantage, it'll be about 1.25 or 1.5 to 1 so the entire war scenario will be neutralize.

Yes...on defense Pakistan can match India, but again fighting a 8 times larger enemy will have serious costs. Either you have dollars to spend on defense or on education, health and social security. In fact in this Pakistan budget the funds allocated to education, health and social security have decreased and defense budget increased.

That's a very noble advise but as the saying goes, charity starts at home.
Those billions India is spending on the MMRCA deal alone, just imagine, how many farmers could benefit, how many dowries would benefit from having a toilet, how much extra security you could provide for tourists and if there are any funds left over, you could always inject them into your world re-known Tejas project.

The more Pakistan spends on defense better is for India. It means Pakistan will rely less on non conventional arms in a war with India.

If the defense budget is $7.6 billion, than it is 20% of their whole budget. If, as some members are claiming, the defense budget is $10.3,then it should be 26% of the total Pakistan's budget.

781 billion total defense budget and 45 billion (other then those 781 billion ) fro rising a fleet of 12000 marines ..
so they make a total amount of 826 billion !!!!! *(conformed)

Lot of the defense related expenditure is kept outside the official defense budget.

7.6 billion includes only Army, Airforce, Navy and ISI. Interestingly, ISI has the same budget allocated as their Airforce. The budget allocation for special forces, nuclear forces and paramilitary is not part of the defense budget. If I am right, the pensions have been kept outside the official defense budget.

He was talking about percent of budget which is nearly 20% of whole budget if $7.6 billion and 26-27 percent $10.3 billion. Of course its lower than India and China but in percentage of budget its higher than us.
