Defence budget raised by 11.6pc to Rs781 billion

If the defense budget is $7.6 billion, than it is 20% of their whole budget. If, as some members are claiming, the defense budget is $10.3,then it should be 28% of the total Pakistan's budget.
That includes aid and an unspecified $1.7 billion. Officially its 7.6.

.
The stated defence budget = 781 billion Pakistani rupees
1 USD= 101.8850 Pakistani rupee

So 781 billion divided by 101.8850 Gives
7,665,505,226 dollars, which rounds of to 7.7 Billion dollars to be precise.

lol this is so interesting, indians keeping an eye on every dollar we spend.

I hope you are not a RAW analyst, double checking your currency conversion on PDF, before you present a report to modi.

I believe the real defense budget is much higher than the quoted $7.6 billion....Pakistan real defense budget should be around $11 billion. Although many Pakistanis would not agree with me, but there is a arms race that is going on between India and Pakistan.

And why would you believe that?

. . . . .
How did you come to $11 billion figure?

7.6 billion includes only Army, Airforce, Navy and ISI. Interestingly, ISI has the same budget allocated as their Airforce. The budget allocation for special forces, nuclear forces and paramilitary is not part of the defense budget. If I am right, the pensions have been kept outside the official defense budget.

Ah whatever. This topic is boring me now.

Paramilitary comes under ministry of interior .. Pensions of govt again..(not from defence budget)... Nuclear and research not sure...

CSF or coalition support fund = NATO.

FF revenue .. Xxx

Why are Indians bothered how much our defense budget is ?

.
The defence budget should not exceed more than 20% of overall yearly budget, but in Pakistan case it is way too high and in my opinion unacceptable ! Just look at the figurers of other expenditure specially for education and health spending by the govt, and you know that apart from foreign policy now Budgets are also being made at GHQ !!!

Hi
I had no intention of even commenting here, but there was a slight disagreement over the budget in the first page so I converted it into US dollars as it would be easy not only for Pakistanis concerned with there armed forces but also for everybody else who doesn't know the value of pak rupee in comparison to there own currency.
Also I am still 17 and government of India does not recruit children.

cheers
Thanks

You are right on both accounts. As the Pakistani economy grows, they'll start to announce the actual budget. By 2018, the defense budget would be around Turkey's, around $ 18 billion. Pakistan is now a "developing" country, not an "underdeveloped" country. As the economy grows, so will her influence, and power projection per her size and needs.

There is no arms race going on. But the Pakistani economy has started to take off so the $$$$ are coming in. Which means, as a natural foe of India (and vis-a-vis), anything India buys, Pakistan will make sure they have the minimum deterrence for India's Pakistan specific fleet. That's just its going to be. 5 years from now, India's Pakistan specific fleet will no longer have 2:1 or 3:1 advantage, it'll be about 1.25 or 1.5 to 1 so the entire war scenario will be neutralize.
