What's new

Defence budget raised by 11.6pc to Rs781 billion

Rupee to be used for paying wages and military welfare, procuring weapons, ammunition and equipment from Pakistani manufacturers. And since Pakistan buys most of it's equipment from China, thus the yen is to be used.

Only for buying weapons from US Rupee to USD conversion is to be used.

Yen is Japanese currency, Chinese would be Yuan Renmibi.

1 CNY= 16.5 PKR, and 1USD = 6.2 CNY. So whether Pakistan pays in USD or CNY its the same thing.

Pakistan defense spending is still lowest in the region. It needs to be brought on par if we are to be able to handle future challenges specially from India.

Its high time navy gets its fair share at least equal to what the air force is getting.

.
Like many friends mentioned here that its mere 19% of total budget and is still lowest in the region. We need to pump in more to speed up more indegenous projects and may be new inductions in all 3 Armed Forces.

And ours is 13%. How is your lower?

In terms of GDP only.
In that case, I'm pretty sure that in this region, Afghanistan's budget is lower than Pakistan.

If you have a little common sense, use it. GDP is not the right way to measure ones defense spending.

The more Pakistan spends on defense better is for India. It means Pakistan will rely less on non conventional arms in a war with India.
