What's new

Dear PDF Doctors.

. .
It is easier said than done given my work routine, however it is possible if It is recommended.
I can't stress enough how much I recommend it. I base it on real life cases.
But obviously, it's not a guarantee.

It's pointless to discuss medicines without clinical analysis.
Although MRI never hurts. So do that too.

That's a very nice suggestion from the member, sleep hygiene is important and also reducing stress levels. On and off sleeping pattern build up physical stress resulting in tensed head muscles (frontalis, occipitalis) and trapezius contributing to trigger the pain. Also, try to bring down psychological stress along with physical.

Also, try to see a pattern that what's the trigger, if it's an environmental trigger. Change that.

One more thing, lately i had chance to go through a research paper suggesting that intestinal flora is responsible for migraines. So i would also say to do colon cleansing and keep check on your diet if there is any thing in diet triggering the pain.

Your not gonna get valid advice here until someone evaluates you thoroughly with a history and physical exam and runs labs as well as diagnostic tests. Since you said you have been to the best docs at home and abroad i am surprised you have never had an MRI. Headaches can be caused by many many reasons. Some neurological and some not such as sleep apnea.

Have you not had a single MRI of the brain in all your encounters with a doc?

I had a friend who used to get severe attacks and i think it normally happens without warning it would leave him crippled or extremely miserable in bed for some hours, and its us who would rush the patient to emergency many times, then one day he fainted in the class and hit his head against some projection fro the wall , he did not have migraine that day, but was stressed out due to studies. Then he decided to go for a complete brain checkup, ct scan , mri to stay on safe side, everything came normal. But as of migraine he was prescribed some medications, then jab usko dard start honay lagta he wud immediately eat those tablets and guess what someone like him who would get such severe pain otherwise, would be saved from the attack getting worse. Medictaions had tremendously helped the person.

I am no longer in touch with the friend , else iwould have gotten meds names but ido know he got checked at doctors hospital in lahore.

As of keeping patterns, idunno why u found it difficult. When one is getting treatments for migrain the first thing ur doc tells u is to keep a record of two weeks or the duration he recommneds of the frequency of attacks and plus he also asks u tp record what is the intentsity of attacks on scale of 1-10 like my friend would rate his pain at 9 or really high.

I have an aunt who has suffered from it since her child and she still does and when she gets it shes easily down in bed for two three days its so bad. But since she is a housewife so things get managed. But for a guy who is working or studying it can definitely pose issues.

I can only pray for u and suggest u to go for ct scan and mris . Poora check up karna is always one of the best things to stay on safer side. At the moment i have a neurosurgeon in family lekin i am not on talking terms with the guy. And waisay since i am a nasty human so behind his back i call him a naqli doctor

Oh sorry ichecked that was sleeping pattern. I am not sure how much sleeping pattern effects migraine but stress does cause issues.

Had one back in 2010 after I suffered an attack while driving on the highway during peak time traffic. It was okay according to my Dr.

Have you ever been to a dedicated headache center? Or evaluated by a neurologist as opposed to a general practioner?

.... I have figured that if I gym regularly, especially cardio, it helps.

....
I was about to suggest the same that do some exercise regularly.

Besides, identify things that could possibly predispose you to an attack & avoid them.

E.g.
Some could get headaches with dark chocolate! I would suggest avoiding chocolates... And reduce looking at screens for longer durations in one go. Takes breaks more often.

There are medicine that could trigger headaches, like Adalet can give severe headache to some.

Just for a laughs: my cousin used to get 1-2 day long episodes of migraine after a wet dream. That was before he got married. I would suggest him to empty his glands to reduce wet nights.

Point is , if you can ID any triggers, avoid them if possible. Medicine part is better taken care of by the doctor you go to.

One "toat'kaa" I found works for ordinary headaches (not sure if it will work for migraine!?), is, making looong "Saj'daah"... like say "subhanaRabbiYallAalaaa" like 100 times, that long.

I have no regular sleeping pattern. Sometimes I sleep for 10 hours, sometimes I sleep after two days.
Two days is too long and it can effect short term memory . Actually this year i went awake for two days, i was down with terrible flu and throat ache and cud not sleep, then same morning right infront of my house a guy got runover by a bus and it was a very bad accident his blood was all over the road so i cud not sleep for two days at the end of second day iwas suffering from short term memory loss, started forgetting smallest of the stuff. Also very seldom i too get migraine like pains and they happen more often when i stay awake for a very long time like close to 20-24 hours.

Dont let it go over to two days thats so bad for mental n physical health

Let me first assert that I'm an actual doctor.
And you can cross check my advice online.

1. People here have already told you the importance of regular sleep. That's important.

2. Diet- this is a factor which helps at least half my patients. Avoid processed food, including food at restaurants.
The main culprit here tends to be Monosodium Glutamate (umami/ azinomoto). It brings about a headache (even migraine) in sensitive individuals.
MSG is present in the highest concentration in fast food like kfc, burgers, noodles, meat at restaurants, tomatoes.

Homemade meat is relatively safer.

3. Avoid smoking. And stay healthy with regular exercise.

I have seen the best results with point 2.

Medication- is best decided by your treating doctor. For acute attacks, we use injection diclofenac in our emergency.

Can't imagine what you're going through, tension headaches caused by lack of sleep or stress don't cause vomiting as far as I know. Although you'd help yourself if you keep somewhat normal sleep schedule. Get an MRI to rule out anything, although they can be a bit expensive. If it remains you'd have to take measures to minimize the pain as well as take medication.

Stress can't avoided and don't let that distress you more. It's part of life at normal levels. I'll keep you in my prayers.
