Hi, I've been struggling dearly with intense migraine episodes for as long as i can remember, however the frequency of these attacks has declined but the intensity has only increased. They can last up to 3 days, with light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, sensitivity to motion, buzzing headaches and intense vomiting. In other words, they are crippling for my daily life.

It goes without saying that I've consulted the best doctors I could find at home and abroad but it just doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Few years back, i could tell if a migraine attack was coming but now it hits without any warning. At this point I'm thinking about getting an MRI etc to assess whether or not there's any neurological issue.

I'd like to know if there's anything i should do, since its very rare in males and is effectively without a cure. If you've the same problem, I'd like to know any tips and tricks. Thanks

It's not rare in males, although more common in females.

You do seem to have a serious case, but may I ask about your sleeping routine. Do you sleep like 8 hours and do it with strict timing?

You may find it insulting that I'm asking about something so simple, since migraines are crippling and ruin lives.

There are two new biologicals that’s just finished Phase 3 trials and presented for FDA approval.

Erenumab and Fremanezumab sponsored by I think Novartis and Teva respectively.

They seem to have had phenomenal success in reducing migraines and is one of the first drugs targeted specifically at migraines.

If you have tried everything else - think about these - they both work on the same path way in the brain and will be available in the US by 2018. If these sponsors are still doing clinical trials , you might see if you can enroll in one. Australia does a lot of trials for American companies.

Try Cefaly for migrane prevention, it help reducing migrane episodes. Give it a try, it's an external trigiminal nerve stimulator. Also, consult your neurologist and ask his/her advice before using it.

https://www.cefaly.us/ here is the link for the product. There are probably more companies who are making such device. In principle it is an TENS device, which is Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, which blocks the pain signals by providing electrical impulses. Also, can increase the threshold of the pain over continuous use.

Get an MRI. If anything just to rule out structural causes. Are you in Australia?
Not sure how the medical system works there. Here in the states getting an MRI should be
easy enough to do. First rule out serious structural causes such as tumor and aneursym.
Then chalk it up to the myriad of headache types. Especially since the characterstics of the
symptoms have changed.

Sometimes I do.

Do you grind your teeth whilst asleep?

The worrisome problem is that i can no longer predict an attack. I have figured that if I gym regularly, especially cardio, it helps.

I have no regular sleeping pattern. Sometimes I sleep for 10 hours, sometimes I sleep after two days.

stress, (could be the aussie heat too) take you and your mrs/partner on holiday. might i suggest the Maldives.
dont worry or care about anything, just relax. go scuba diving/windsurfing etc oh and go to the spa. if your living in austrailia (as per your flag) then ensure your not sitting bored out of your brains doing jack. and if your working make sure your enjoying it.
i get headaches in the easter time. i just go to the lake district and chill and go for the odd spa/massage during the term holidays.
Dubai, qatar kuwait etc. is not a holiday its busy and cluttered.

Stress is permanent. Only thing I've seen working for me is intense workout.
