Dalai Lama calls on India to preserve Tibetan culture

1700368.jpg

Dalai Lama has called on the people of India to support the preservation of Tibetan culture and natural environment in the interest of the entire Asian continent.

"The preservation of Tibetan culture is not only concerned with 6 million Tibetans, but it is in the larger interest of Central Asia, including China," Dalai Lama said at the inauguration ceremony of the Fourth All Tibetan Support Groups Conference here today.

He said rivers originating from Tibet, the roof of the world, such as Brahmaputra are lifeline for people living in many Asian countries, including India.

"So the Indians certainly have rights to raise their concerns on the preservation of Tibet's environment," he said.

He showed concern over the destruction of natural environment, exploitation of mineral resources, and threat to wildlife animals on the Tibetan plateau.

He said India is a living example of secular ethics and non-violence, which are relevant to the whole world.

Prime Minister of Tibetan government-in-exile Dr Lobsang Sangay said, "39 Tibetans have drank petrol and set their bodies on fire. These acts have demonstrated that occupation of Tibet is unacceptable and repression is unbearable."

He said, "India is a durable and reliable friend and supporter of the Tibetan people. Over the last more than 50 years, the Indian people have stood for justice and freedom of Tibetans."

Around 150 members of the Tibetan Support Groups from different parts of India are participating in the conference.

The first All India Tibet Support Groups Conference was held in Chandigarh in 2003, followed the by second in Bodhgaya in 2006 and the third in Delhi in 2009. PTI COR MNS 06092010 NNNN

that lamaist should convert some indians to his cannibalistic cult: suicides, human barbeques, and all. and indian's bullied neighbors have a strategic interest to see more indians turn to this cult that likes to swallow its own members whole - flesh, bone and soul.

i mean this dude doesn't practice buddhism and never did - and yes, his cult is of a cannibalistic kind, with explicit sponsorship from indians and their government. that is also to say, you hindus got a hand in the serial human barbequing that took place on chinese land, for which the chinese state is making you (and the lamaists) pay.

& indians are doing it. I was surprised, & pleased at the same time to see this little Tibet while driving via Coorg towards Mysore last time when I was in India. I'm sure there are quite a few of these kinds in other parts of India too..

it is not good to blame man for our inability ..he did what he thought right for his people ..they never resorted to any kind of violence ..peaceful people they are ..
We did the right thing by accepting them for sake of humanity ..
China position vis a vis india is also understandable ..but first of all its chinas failure that they tried to give nightmares not dreams to those hapless tibetians ..

Man was at the wrong place and at the wrong time.

Anyways, preserving Tibetan culture has nothing to do with the controversy surrounding the Dalai Lama. I'd say it'll remain as it is for a long time.

no, this old f*ck isn't a man of peace. he sees the world as one of class warfare and race warfare, between the lamaist elites and the common folks and between lamaist elite and han elite. he adopted violent meants to fight for his cause, and he subsequently adopted pacificst, ghandian rhetoric only so that he could continue to direct violent, armed rebellion in china while he hid and was protected in india and got support from indians and anglo-americans. his pacificism is as opportunistic - and as futile - as his terrorist ways in the past.
