and if the school chooses so
and if Hindi is not the third language
and if the school insists on teaching a third language
then
Sanskrit is going to be taught.

68000 students are affected by this. Not all KV students(million plus).
For example In Karnataka, a KV school will study English, Kannada, Hindi depending on the school's decision.

They hate you. Learning and scoring in Sanskrit is much easier than German. Not to mention the fact that Germany has English or French as compulsory second subject. Thereby negating the use of it to a large extent.

That said, I like the German language, but for classes 6, 7 and 8? Naaah.

There is nothing to be butthurt about.. Its about practicability.. Learning which language will give you advantage in getting a job in MNC? German or Sanskrit?

Largely agree with OP govt's focus needs to be on radical reforms for which it came but it seems govt is more focused on elections and how reforms are going to effect them.

And as long as hindus are getting married,reading their religious texts in their original format sanskrit is going to live although it needs to be rejuvenated by creating jobs on its basis.

German vs Sanskrit debate is stupid UPA govt made german a third language in schools which was a violation of national policy on education and got removed.

Their are various courses of different language at an undergraduate level in various universities ,do a 3 yr course if one likes it.

I don't want to,,serves no purpose.
I already know 3 languages,,thats more than enough.

the official language since long should have been english, it would have been the link/unifying language... it was not made so, that was the first mistake... the second mistake was the "reorganization of states" act which remade states based on language used by the majority.

1. the simplest thing to remove all confusions and unnecessary complications is to make english the primary language in schools and in government.

2. five languages have been the most intellectual languages in india... urdu, punjabi, hindi, malayalam and bengali... there is nothing that prevents translation of intellectual works ( stories, essays, speeches, poetry ) into english.

3. there is no need to retain any other language apart from those six... even those local five should be written in latin script.

German is an extra language, if kids want to learn it they will . Nobody is forcing them to not learn it. Sanskrit should be preserved and taught in schools , if we wont teach our culture and heritage to our children , then who will ?

We should ask US to take over India. Then as the 51st or 52nd state of USA we can be called Americans. It is about practicability. Overnight, rupee will be ditched and our national currency will be dollars. Which citizenship is better? Being an Indian or being an American?
