Converting Mirage to UACV!

How difficult it be to convert Mirage III & V to UCAV-Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle ? Is pakistan working on this........as chinese are--- convert old j6 and j7 to uacv.

Given the delata config and high speed Mach2.2 and high altitude characterstics of Mirage it should be very effective.


Looking at all the US UCAV they more or less resemble Mirage disign ...take out the front fusalge... Low RCS, Should be good for intercetor role as well as delivery of ground payload.

I humbly accept the critic of the patriot, but that is not the feedback I was expecting. Anyway my point was since china is making UCAV by adopting the old F-7 , Mirage is much better platform than F-7 for the same.

Just imagine 150 engines got from Libya can be fitted in these discarded Mirage airframes. The possibilities are endless. Babur did not fielded War elephants againts war elephants.

Dissimilar combat is the key here!!!

dude i think it would be very difficult to do that. Just think about it how old are these jets and how much stress can their airframes take. Plus these jets are small a UCAV i think needs to be small so that it can take of from small airbases.
just my 2 cents i am no UCAV specialist.

Whole point of Converting to UCAV is that Pilot training will not be so exhastive, it will mostly simulation and the aircraft can be stored for long time. The technology to convert is nothing more than a laptop software kinda....very much achivable.

This will be something that needs to be persued as pakistan, having acquired capability in manufacturing AC, is now position to transition from a manned to unmanned.

UACV being the future aircombat, Pakistan either can take a stand or follow ever like before.

Titanium there are a number of UAV projects that Pak has undertaken. these are the basis for any UACV project. And it is not as simple as you like to think. For example you have not thought through the fact that the Mirage is older technology and still require a physical input in order to fly.If it was a simple as you suggest then everyone would be doing it.

Nothing come out unless seat and blood is not mixed, having said that nothing should be beyond imagination......from there things start happening. I read somewhere China converting their F-7 and the associated technology that big deal. Mirage being supirior platform than F-7 why it cannot be done rather than retiring to junwayds.

China is still manufacturing the F-7 whilst the Mirages are older airframes. the airframes that are not too old will remain in service until replacement aircraft are available. Now i suggest you look into something before you start with the self belief stuff again. there is another saying that is relevant.

Exactly....within your means, if I may add to that. As you can see in Europe there is no plan for 5 gen Aircraft. Most of the European aerospace leaders are concentrating on UCAV's. Converting Mirages for the job should be just a step in that direction.

The chinse are converting J-6 and J-7 into target drones, not UCAVs
