T129 at Night

.
First Test area: Multan Command base
Temperature: 47 degree
T-129 Atak flew day and night. According to report, No other helicopters can even escort Atak in such hot and high conditions Atak is tested.

Second test area: Pano Aqil
Temperature: 50 degree
The temperature even effected the mobile phones so hardly took some photos.
All trials are done successfully.

Third Test Area: Himalayas - Quetta city
14000ft altitude, 23 degree

Fourth Test mission: From Quetta city to Multan
Range: 480km
A record: T-129 Flew 2h 40m without air fueling in such high and hot conditions. After flight, Atak was able to fly 33 minutes more.
For High Altitude Test I assume they would Go somewher Like Skardu or Gilgit Baltistan which is real Himalayan range. Quetta is too far from there.

so what is the news are we getting them ?
hopefully they are swapped for Zullus.. and Hussain haqqani can have easy sleep.

true that.. should have been northern Areas

What is the expected cost T-129 (the variant that came to Pakistan)?

True but it will pass test there as well reason is Anatolian platu is very similar to Pak weather terrain so the temperature. This machine is designed for Turkish àrmy needs for harsh conditions it suits for Pak as well .But I am very sure such kind of harsh testing Army will buy these Helis .its a very sleek and beautiful Heli will fill the gaps for Pak attack Heli needs .

Ultimate test range is hot hell Bahawalpur region. If it pass that test range, then it will be selected, also parts and technical aspects are overcome too.

But, Mi35 is doing extremely well in Iraq. Also, Iraqi forces are very much satisfied from Mi28 ...

.
3 different types of attack helicopters from 3 different countries
Mil-35 Russian
Ah-1 Viper U.S
T-129 or Z-10 Turkey and China
This is unheard of in any other military

TAI could always replace the LHTEC T800 with the Rolls Royce Gem2 which originally powered the A-129 Mangusta. It may even source other european engines. If the US engine could be replaced then I would think the T-129 is the way to go over other gunships. It will be able to be customizable with respect to weapons, and it will be able to have fleet uniformity as well with respect to Vipers and (if Turkey allows) even the Mi-35s.

I see the following being the work share amongst gunships in PA:
Mi-35: SSG/Special Forces assault choppers
Ah-1Z and older Ah-1Fs will continue operations in FATA and against TTP
T-129 or WZ-10 will be the main gunship of the Army, specifically against India. In this the T-129 could use local/chinese weapons, but also American weapons like hellfire or TOW missiles giving less logistical issues vs Wz-10.

Sir, like Pak mirages the Ah1Fs are relatively old platforms though have some make up like an old lady yet are difficult and expensive to maintain still not safe for flights. Clear signs of wear and tear are shown. Further now our coin operation is perhaps on final stages as most of insurgents are entering from our brotherly countries. Most of Pak areas have been cleaned. They can't even carry A to A missiles for own defense.

However your option about EU/British engine looks quite rational for Pak if T129 considered.

Dear Sir,

Zulu is a monster and may be in future we shall require attack helis not only for Anti armour roles but for areal engagements with hostile attack helis, there you shall require mix of heavy and light helis.

PA if not chooses Zulus then they shall have only visible option of Mi28Ne in heavy class.

Only lapse in Mi28NE is it's low service ceiling.

@CHI RULES. Hi. Yeah i know the ah1f is an older chopper but some have been refit or were "newer" deliveries. I think paf will use them as long as possible and as the COIN operations come to a close (btw i dont see that happening in the next 5 yrs) they can be gradually phased out. But using them against india is not as viable for the exact reasons u point out.

this would make sense as well, unless of course they are offered free!
you can get more TOT , more quantity with same money
but i doubt this would happen, unless airforce and navy army is less under pressure when it comes to finances regarding procurements

Any capital investment in major systems must have local content. For current PAC it is really not difficult to set up a facility to work on a combat helicopter.

Your engineers know Cobras inside out. Based on that blue print, how difficult could it be to develop a credible platform?

This first one doesn't have to be world class from start...this will help PAC to be able build helicopters for all three services and of course for civilians as well.

In this regard a JV company must be established with Turkey and a separate one with China. Russian choppers in small numbers for immediate needs is not a bad decision.

PAC must develop a dedicated facility together with Army Aviation engineers. Copy if you have to. Engine is not really a problem. Buy from Russians or Chinese. Unlike your eastern neighbour, your track record is quite pragmatic. Build this ethos.

I will prefer WZ 10 for PA over T129 as the helicopter uses US made products & there is no need for Pakistan to get into US made products any more. Apart from that I believe WZ10 out performs T129, but in the end I will pick MI28 above both.
