MG to produce electric vehicles in Pakistan

With the recent taxation and low base price its a killer deal most likely will end up cheaper than mehran and alto with basically negligible running cost and maintainance.
Talk numbers.

4 wheeler is more safer and wide customer range (elderly and women). More crash worthy as it has seat belts and air bags. Protects from rain and puddles. Can carry goods. Serve as taxi/Uber.

a three wheeler scooter is also safer to drive but not crash worthy.

Pakistan has a people carrier market not person carrier market.

If there need be money saved or made, CPeC trucks would be battery powered.

You don't change a norm from a target audience of less than 1 percent

Sadly, no one gives a sh*t about safety in Pakistan. Motorcycles are loved by almost all males in Pakistan regardless of their financial status as motorcycles are considered cool unlike that hideous mini car that you showed earlier. Electric hot hatches will be huge hit just like our petrol hot hatches as long as they can carry at least 4 people such as Honda e and Nissan Leaf.

Govt should consider it.

I am not talking about their ban but a replacement of 800cc cars..

A family car should be a 4 seater.. but for short commute for fathers/mothers/students/ it is best. Normally, they go market alone or with driver, leaving the backseats empty. So people can buy two small 2 seaters or one family car + one two seater.

Wuling mini ev.
Basically Rs 7-9 lac as there is just 1% tax and zero FED. ( $4150 for base model and $5600 for upper one) a 100 mile range ( in city driving electric cars give optimal range so realistically speaking 100-120km range per charge is guranteed). Its a 10kw for base and 13kwh for upper model. So with the electricity rates now adays one can charge it at home for Rs 160 to Rs 250.
So thats less than 3 Rs per km.
On top of it no oil changes, transmission fluids and less general maintainance as less nunber of moving parts.

Why would anyone do that buy a two seater car when motorcycles are available?

safety and wide range of customer.. consider women can't drive motor bikes. So big car goes with father and small cars for the elder body and women if needed, at home.

Women do drive motorcycles in Pakistan. Those who don't and can't afford a 4 seater car would rather sit behind their father, brother, son or husband on a motorbike instead or they will instead use public transport. Like I stated earlier motorbikes are loved by Pakistanis, to you they may not seem that convenient but to Pakistanis living here it is very convenient.

It will be in the future. Bus carriers will also replacing their petrol buses with electric ones for certain routes, routes where charging stations are widely available.

So what happens when there is loadshedding?

The back space is not much smaller than a mehran or alto. We Pakistanis are famous for stuffing 6 in an alto.

Dont be confused with it being a 2 door. Perfect for a family with kids. Remember the 2 door alto and vitz.

Brother @Goenitz was specifically talking about 2 seaters. Honda e is 2 door 4 seater and such a car will be hit in Pakistan in the next 5-8 years.
High cost of power and lots of pollution. So why go to EVs at all then?
They will only be used in case a blackout occurs.
