Confirmed: Iran and Russia to Co-Produce Su-30 Fighter Jet

Where did you get that India is exporting things for Russia's Sus? The new Su 30MS was stripped off of any Indian input, and was replaced with Russian equipment.

India just localized much of the parts, or found alternatives within Indian, non Russian industry. This is what Iran is trying to do.

Google this.
Russia places Rs 65-crore order for procuring 34 radar computers

I can't post links yet.

Everyone has to start somewhere. With time, things will move forward. The important thing is to take the first step in the right direction and continue from thereon.
well i get your point but dont you think its a bit premature for that. im sure you guys were building the an140, what appened to that? dont you think an extended variant with western engines and avonics would be a better solution as compared to spending 1 billion on 40 atr 72-600's? also it can be exported providing it meets regulations

The problem is public opinion in Iran is very much against Eastern technology in civilian aviation. The current government would punch a nail in its own coffin if it did such a thing as you say. The current government won in the election on the promise to deliver on things that it is doing right now. If it deviates from this, then it can kiss goodbye to the elections next year.

But probably, if the military adopted that plane and worked things from that side developing it into a military transport, things could go somewhere. But with situation in Ukraine and all, one can not know for sure anymore.

.
You obviously are not getting the point.

Iran is trying to buy technology to become independent. Not to become dependent on India. That is hilarious. Iran's entire foreign policy strives for independence, so it would be now hilarious to suggest Iran is doing this to be a subservient to India.

So why can't you do that with Su-35? The Su-30 is built on 80s tech. The Su-35 is far more advanced.

Another laughter matter was your suggestion that India is exporting technology to Russia. Dude, it is Russia that has sold the technology to India. Now, India is a PARTNER in the project but to suggest that Russians are paralyzed and are dependent on India to form a deal with Iran, is just beyond hilarious. Surely, Russia can build mission computers too. If they could build mission computers in 1980s for Buran to take off to space orbit and land back on earth completely automated, they can manage to build Su-30 mission computers too without India.

The mission computers are exported to Russia.

As I said, above, countries such as ours can not invent their own technology at this stage. They have to acquire them from outside.

So don't try to paint it as anything else. This is the point I am making.

I know. That's why I'm saying you should buy the Su-35s instead of Su-30s. I don't get the point you are trying to make. If your interest is really the development of the aerospace industry, you should choose the Su-35s. If your main interest is just to get a cheap aircraft that can do the job, you should buy the MKI. Most of the tech on the MKI is obsolete, you will waste years working on something that will have no relevance in a few more years.

And you are misunderstanding something. This has nothing to do with Iran being subservient to India. You were wondering how India would make money on the Su-30s that are Russian, so I answered. It's up to Iran to choose Indian spares and services or go to Russia.

I am all for Iran to build a large aerospace industry, my position is you are better served with the Su-35 and then move on to PAK FA. My intent on an Iran-India relation was just my 2 cents for future cooperation. My only hiccup with your posts was your claim that PAK FA is some kind of modernized Su-27, apart from that we are on the same page. So cheers.

well the urkrine market is leaning toward the midel east and would rather lose you then lose saudi arabia, uae and other me countries. the lL-214 is not bad transporter, hal droped out of it. if you give a good contribution they may allow you to build subsections and your own providing you buy enough.

I have a question.

Why is Iran producing / procuring aircraft from other countries ?

what requirement is it that " Husseni Tayara" a.k.a Qaher et all could not fulfill ?
Congratulations to Iran ..
Stronger Iran is good for region and Pakistan .
I would love to see Su-30 of Iran training with our JF-17 ( block-3 ) ...
@waz i see you're watching this thread . you've always been a nice fella and a friend of mine

here is the truth about pakistanis : so many different point of views man !! you people cannot stand with each other .

compare these 2 comments for ex. one of them is a very nice and polite comment asking for coop between the 2 of us ,the other one is an absolute bigot . the former snatched 9 thanks from people and the latter got a middle finger .

while i wish you and your country all the best ,i also wish that sanity prevails in pakistani politicians and they choose their allies wisely .

They did. They ditched the Saudis :D.

Saudis nowadays are trying to adopt Turkey as their long lost son. All the history of Saud family massacring Turks with the help of Lawrence of Arabia all forgotten. Erdogan nowadays goes to Saudi Arabia and Saudis go to Turkey to discuss "strategic cooperation".

The tiny segment of Pakistani society that used to route for Saudis are now isolated. Even on this forum.

After all no body likes to bet on the losing side (maybe only Turks ).

Congratulations to the Iranians on this deal. I'd love to see Iranian Sukhois train with PAF jets. Of course we are just next door. :smitten:

We know the inns and outs of these US planes. This may or may not help against certain Arab or Arab loving neighbours of Iran ;).

Dear Iranian cousins this post is deeply insulting, as he actually thinks you are gullible to fall for his bigoted nonsense. No one can speak for you apart from yourselves. :-)
As for the poster, your obsession needs treatment.

You only need to know one thing and one thing only bro. Which is the only country in the world whose population has a vast majority favourable view of Iran? Yes, that is Pakistan cousin. End of story.

Syria is Arab. Iraq is Arab. Lebanon is Arab. Yemen is Arab. Oman is Arab. And Iran has worked its asszz off to protect them (even under sanctions). Iranians know well. No worries. :-)

And I answered here those who wanted to deflect this project to show that this is something that would make Iran dependent on India and somehow turn into a zero-sum game with Pakistan.

Let's see what happens. Nowadays Iran is on a roll. It can't be predicted what will come out of all this. Hopefully more than what we are expecting!

I understand that. But all these tech are Russian. This is the point I was hoping to make. And Iran has its own requirements in this regard which may or may not match with other countries requirement.

And Iran can not go straight away for PAKFA because Iran does not have experience with Sukhoi platform out of which PAKFA has come out and the PAKFA itself is not yet operational. Su-30 is the best starting point for the money.

And regarding the Iran-India relations, one thing must be kept in mind is that we all should accept the other side as it is. I have not seen a single Iranian member who comes in and starts to meddle in relation of India and Israel and imply Iran's relation with India is somehow to counter Israel. This is the level of maturity. The same should be displayed by Indians, since lately I am seeing some Indians are implying that India's relation with Iran is somehow a zero sum game with regard to Pakistan.

Iran's no one's proxy. Iran is an independent country acting rationally on its own national interests. Implying anything otherwise is an immature behavior. Just like Iranians do not bring in America and Israel to Iran-India relations, the same is expected from Indians with regard to Pakistan. Cheers!

Let's hope for the best. Hillary is very much anti-Iran and an insane person. She is responsible for all the suffering in Libya and Syria. That is why she was booted out of office by Obama. The sanest person in US race is Sanders.

Indian ask us same question whenever there is news of us getting F-16 or talking about possible J-10 and they troll us about JF-17 and the "reality" of its capabilities.
most of us get defensive or apologetic.
now I don't want to talk for @Daneshmand but I guess its about fulfilling different roles and classes of aeroplanes.

Congrats Iran

Although this news surprises me considered how the S-300 deal previously had went sour.
indeed welcome news
as for S300 that was back then. now its different there might be a revisit to it if Russia is not bound by Western arms embargo.

. you know Frenchies are busy counting billions after their mega deal of airbuses. haters are gonna stand back and kick their nutts .

Quite the contrary, I believe our industry would benefit less by going for the Su-35, simply because the Russians would probably flat out refuse domestic production. Remember that this is Russia's best operational fighter jet. Maybe some small non manufacture purchase but I doubt Iran would go through with that because of cost.

By the way, I doubt Iran would go for the Su-30MKI. It has Israeli and French electronics in it, which is a security concern (for us). Most likely it will be the Russian version of the MKI, the SM, and to a lesser chance it may be an MKIR. But not an MKI.
