What's new

COAS was asked by the Govt to play facilitative role for resolution of current impasse, ISPR

What's really interesting is that just 2 days ago, PTI's jalsa seemed like it was going to fall apart. NS being the competitive spirit that he is, said No Way! I'm going to show them how to fail even more spectacularly.

Yar waisay had hi hoti hai jhoot bolnay ki.

In the morning, Ch Nisar and PM say that they didn't call in the Army and bla bla bla...and in the evening he says that they did! Aik din main hi itna bara jhoot?

And the biggest joke, "The statement came through me and the PM gave approval"!

Yar ab aisay jhoot to na bolo, sab ko pata hai tumhain kitni lift karati hai fauj, they don't send statements to your wig head for approval.

These people have totally lost it.

Nawaz: do you want to stay here and become shaheed with me?
Shahbaz: did i ever support you?

Nawaz to his party members: i hope you all support me?
Party members: نفسي نفسي

Army is part of Government. The Prime Minister can order anything he wants to do. Period.

Army is part of the State, not the Government! As per the constitution, no Govt can melign the Army in any way whatsoever.

And the PM can't order anything he wants to do. Anything PM orders and does MUST be in full accordance of the constitution and in the utmost best interest of Pakistan and Pakistanis!

Period.

Anything the COAS does MUST also be in full accordance with the Constitution too.

Constitution that you defend so vehemently has been amended numerous times by the dictators like Zia, Musharraf. Funny.

A Constitution has within it the proper means and procedures for it to be modified as it is a living document. Even dictators knew that despite their treason, they had to come back to abide by it or be deposed.

Are you implying that constitution should be changed to give every single power and control to the PM?

That is for the Parliament to decided after due process. As it says in the Constitution. And if any change does not work out, it can be amended again, following due process. The Constitution is a living document and those nations that keep it supreme reap the benefits of the rule of law. What a concept!

Well the point being?
Many amendments in constitution are not even democratic. Almost all of them were done to maintain status quo or do more power grab for the PM, ruling party in next election.

None of the dictators assumed PM office...

I agree however I believe in checks and balances to be in constitution. Removing Presidential powers in my opinion was a big mistake and should be brought back, or Presidential system like Iran's be introduced where candidates are vetted and few selected by a supreme council for public to vote on and ministers are technocrats instead of damned politicians.
