Citizenship Bill Will Strain India's Ties With Bangladesh," Says Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun G

Good.

Let that stand in its place as your own declaration of faith, rather than the mealy-mouthed hypocrisy that you inflict on everybody at other times.
Please, your only grouse is that your Bangladeshi relatives aren't allowed anymore.

My only grouse?

They churn out bhakts without issuing brains to them. They come out with a factory-fitted braying imitation of patriotism, and the lack of a brain behind their statements is clearly evident.

My only grouse is that one or two of them land up on PDF.

This land is for Native faiths and will always be one. those who crying about adding more mouths to 1.3 billion people weren't worried when rohingyas stromed the borders. No Muslim refugees are welcomed on Indian shores anymore.

Refugee is one thing and giving citizenship is entirely different. I am against giving citizenship to Muslims be it Pakistani, Bangladeshi or Rohingyas. Hell, I'm against giving citizenship to any foreigner irrespective of their faith/religion under any pretext. Period. :hitwall:

Other than the Supreme Court, who should then hold the balance?

In addition to the role of the Supreme Court as final arbiter of the Constitution and actuator of the rule of law, what do you expect if irrational beliefs are allowed to interfere with the human rights of other citizens? Why is one set of politicians busy ignoring the breach of law and order, and favouring their own partisans in times of riot? Is that an unpredictable outcome? Do we need to recall Gujarat 2002 once again?
Sir i have no doubt in my mind about the SC role in those affairs and respect them utmost. I am just speculating as a third person perspective as the people i love are emotional fools.

Politics is filthy sir they wash hand on peoples blood. It is us "We the people" can bring change through discourse.

I have, Sir, no wish to protract this discourse, but would you be offended if I pointed out that "We, the people" are the last to be entrusted with constitutional legislation or with constitutional reform?

The constituent assembly; the same who structured our own constitution to offer the scheduled castes and the scheduled tribes formal protection, a feature that has been so grossly abused by "We"; the same who wrote human rights into the US Constitution as a feature not open to meddling, and thus created an invulnerable zone for free speech, another aspect raped and disfigured by "We".

Why am I not surprised at the slipping of the mask of politeness and respect, and the sarcastic tinge of your question? :D

And who chose those "constituent assembly" if not "We" ?

There are tons of things we dissolve into our own from western philosophies if you look at it then the entire damn thing.

Sir one thing is sure our group is not known for "politeness" but we are famous for giving respect. You will always find tons of questioning from me and this is who i am, a pertinent "seeker".

This whole thread just disturbs me (I did not really want to comment on it to begin with...nothing good ever comes of it). Seems we desis have bought into the idea that if we have a bitter harvest now...the answer is to sow a more bitter one this time...ad infinitum....so we may think more fondly of the earlier ones with time. You are all my countrymen in the end...answer lies with sowing a much better crop now....rather than fix the bad with more bad.

But they found no muslim

You keep spouting this lie...there are plenty of muslims among the BD illegals.

The point is the minorities of BD can claim (often quite validly) they flee BD for anti-minority prejudice and hostility.

You tell me what the BD muslim majority is fleeing for? Seeking Economic gain means you should enter legally at the hosts discretion, not yours.

You will learn this lesson the hard way, just like your alladin skyscraper blah talk.

And my reasoning of "Two wrong doesn't make a right" . Seems like you agree with me and Joe sir too silently. :D

Also you always avoid until you get dragged over so how about be present from the start and change the course from within. :D

How very high and mighty of you....that too living in UK. Do you even know what partition did as far as lingering scars go mr mallu? Us southerners have little direct connection by default to what on up there and the continuing repercussions on non muslim minorities in Pakistan and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). Please acquaint yourself to some Bangladeshi Hindu expatriates if you get the chance to hear their side of the story (when that conversation becomes relevant). Till then, dont speak as though you know this issue inside out. There are people outside India that look towards it and love it lot more than some people found inside that are born with some privilege of citizenship....the idea should be to have a process accept and naturalise those people from outside as citizens of India eventually.

People that face genuine hostility and are thus refugees for non-economic reason (i.e habeas corpus safety) should be treated differently to purely economic migrants (who need to come in legally, if not they should be deported). The fact this largely correlates to religion (given the partition was done on religious lines) is a symptom of this. Yes BJP is using it for vote banks....no political party is free of it....however that does not mean we should skirt the issue of what is the ideal theory and approach as Indian political scene becomes more mature hopefully.

Also you always avoid until you get dragged over so how about be present from the start and change the course from within.

Well present from the start means the thread starts to become about me inevitably (given environment with some toxic tribal BD posters here still)....and also I feel other views need to be heard more now.

Soon I wont even be dragged over tbh for such topics. I will just observe, maybe hit a few likes. In fact there was a tagging glitch so I didn't even get joe's tag for some reason....just came across that he tagged me by chance.

I was to do the same but left one comment and got dragged over, however i won't deny to repeat it as i enjoyed that much. Listening to different opinions and reasonings make me question my own and somehow i feel i can be better person in real life.

LOL. Look it up for yourself. You might be surprised. And then again, you might realise why our Constitution, and the American Constitution, seem so restrictive to the minority that now thinks it is the majority.

There are tons of things we dissolve into our own from western philosophies if you look at it then the entire damn thing.

I can assure you that even if the Constitution is re-written from the sole standpoint of Indian philosophy, constitutionalism and jurisprudence, it will come down to the rights of the individual. That overturns the right of the brute majority to impose its will on the minority.

Sir one thing is sure our group is not known for "politeness" but we are famous for giving respect. You will always find tons of questioning from me and this is who i am, a pertinent "seeker".

As long as you are a pertinent seeker, you will find answers.

There are plenty of thread already posted supporting the claim... go back and read, there are no BD muslims in Assam.
Aladin skyscrapper already in implementation phase. The Japanese investor already paid for the land...

There is no win against you sir so i will become France and let you do the hard work. :D

There is no majority in India as Hinduism is not a binary religion and i will advocate further saying it is not religion at all.

Very tough claim if you have to prove it i would say.
