Just read the article again. There is no mention about the caste they are reconverted to. Msy be you can shed some light on it..
Hmm,well the article in a indirect way does say that they belonged to a lower cast....
were unhappy with the caste system that they changed their religion. "But we found ourselves in no better position among Christians," he said."As Hindus we had no status and were restricted to doing menial jobs,
Hence, after reconversion they will be in the same cast which they belonged to pre conversion to christanity.

Were they treated as untouchables when they were Christians?
make out yourself from the article :-)
but even after remaining a Christian for 19 years, we saw that no one came to us from their community. There was no celebration of Bada Din (Christmas). The missionaries just built a church for us in the vicinity where some of the villagers got married.

.
I an discussing the topics which is conversion of Christian folks into Hinduism.

You should too !!

Then you should too remain in that topic premises.
Laws and legislature is our internal issue. If you have 100% confidence about the religion freedom in your nation then you can pass comments about our nation.
Otherwuse you dont have any rights for it.

yes,There are lot of re conversations happening in India, nowadays, especially in tribal areas....Missionaries and pastors are preying the poverty of these innocents..They say,if you convert..you will become rich in a second,,get jobs, relief from diseases or Jesus will knock your doors like that and gave some initial money for converts...but after that nothing...And after 2-3 years they all reconvert back to their ancestral faith....

Because tribals and other peoples from low caste communities would get benefits from Govt if they are in Hinduism.Once they change their faith then its all over.

Yes they can become temple priests if they want to. Only they will have to do the things required to become a temple priest. Like acquire knowledge of all the Shashtras and live the life of austerity a temple priest lives. Once qualified, they can apply for the job.

for some pakistanis and BD who are trying hard to troll here

many of you may heard about this guy A.R. Rahman. he was born as a hindu and converted to muslim(because of his family problems) now he is one of the greatest singer in the world. no one neverr try to kill him for changing his religion.

LOL....will you stop trying to spread Misinformation. :disagree:

A R Rahman's father was a Hindu but his mother was a Muslim. His mother had rejected her family and islam to marry his father who was a famous music director, however after his fathers death poverty forced her to go back to her muslim family who insisted she become a muslim again as a pre condition for helping her.

1211-Kamal_Song_Of_Praise.jpg

this guy Kamal Haasan famous actor in south india. is hindu man with a muslim name. he put hassan as his second name for honor for the man who take care for his family after his father left them(he was a militant) . hassan was his father's friend. he never said he had to face some hindu extremist for what he did to his name.
some pakistanis and bangladeshis who are living in a hell of religious terrorism don't even understand the socialism in india. may pakistanis are trying hard to prove that india is like pakistan were minorities are living in fear. for those fool i want to say that india is a different country that is beyond you can imagine where people are living in harmony.

As to Kamala hassan, the reason his surname is hassan is because his real name is Kamalahasan and since he is an Iyengar Brahmin and since brahmins from TN do no disclose their surnames due to massive discrimination and violence against them they either hide their surname or split their names into a name and a surname.

His bothers name is Charuhasan and Chandrahasan :P

It is true that he added the name 'hasan' to his kids name in memory of his muslim friend who was with him in prison and protected him against other Tamils lower casts who attacked him (kamal's father) in prison because he was a "brahmin". It was ironic because both Srinivasan and yakoob hasan were communists and atheists :cheesy:

It is ridiculous to say Kamal discard his fathers name and chose his fathers friends name as his surname

His Brother Charuhasan also goes by the name Charu Hassan, also a communist and an actor.

Oh wow! You pesky little Hindus have done this time haven't you? :disagree:

You better start running now, the ultimate weapon is going to be unleashed on you. Not even your armed forces will be able to help.

Here comes Benny on his crusade.:super:

What conversion??They merely came back to the faith of their forefathers which they left because of the brainwashing done by the evangelist missionaries. Now they have realized their mistakes and hence reverted back to their own faith. That's all,it's by no mean can this be termed as a conversion.Conversion happens if a person belonging to another faith is converted to a different faith by coercion which is not the case here...:coffee:

did those evangelist put a gun to their head and say convert or die?

He did visit India about a decade or so ago. It was a huge controversy then too.

ALIGARH: A church with a cross in it that belonged to the 7th Day Adventists overnight turned into a temple adorned with a portrait of Shiva after what some Hindu groups in Aligarh termed the "successful ghar wapasi" (reconversion) of 72 Valmikis who had become Christians in 1995.

There was an elaborate shuddhi karan (purification) ceremony on Tuesday inside the church in Asroi, 30km from Aligarh. Children from the village soon took over the premises and were seen playing in it by afternoon on Wednesday. A cross was allegedly remove from the church and placed outside the gate and a portrait of Shiva installed.

Khem Chandra, Sangh pracharak and pramukh of Dharam Jagran Vivad in Aligarh, said, "This is called ghar wapasi, not conversion. They left by choice and today they have realized their mistake and want to come back. We welcome them. We can't let our samaj scatter, we have to hold it tight. I have told them that honour comes from within the community and not from outside." Chandra added that in the years that followed their adoption of Christianity, he met heads of the eight Valmiki families numerous times to convince them to reconsider their decision.

However, as news of the reconversion spread, tension started building up, with sleuths of the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) converging on the spot. Some villagers told TOI, on condition of anonymity, that the Shiva portrait had been removed and kept inside the house of a local resident. Anil Gaur, one of those who returned to the Hindu fold, said it was because they were unhappy with the caste system that they changed their religion. "But we found ourselves in no better position among Christians," he said. "As Hindus we had no status and were restricted to doing menial jobs, but even after remaining a Christian for 19 years, we saw that no one came to us from their community. There was no celebration of Bada Din (Christmas). The missionaries just built a church for us in the vicinity where some of the villagers got married. That was all."

Seventy-year-old Rajendra Singh said he, too, was happy to reconvert. "While sleeping outside the church one day I suffered a paralytic attack. I found myself unable to move. It happened last year and since then I have been thinking that it may have been Mata Devi's punishment for abandoning my faith," he claimed.

Osmond Charles, a lawyer and community leader in Aligarh, isn't convinced though. "Ghar wapasi sounds like a conspiracy," he said. "Sometimes we hear 'love jihad' and now we have 'ghar wapasi'. Is this the sign of a Hindu Rashtra in the making?"

Father Jonanthan Lal, pastor at City Methodist Church, said, "The 'purification' pooja took place inside the church which belongs to 7th Day Adventists. Such an activity shouldn't have taken place there. Faith is a personal matter but havan inside a church is not."

Meanwhile, there is a sudden, eerie quiet in Asroi. Villagers hurry inside their houses if they are asked about the reconversion and most say they know nothing about it. The presence of cops has added to their anxiety. "Don't ask anything. I don't know what happened," a young man said, turning away swiftly from a TOI team.

Church turned into 'temple' after 72 Valmikis reconvert to Hinduism - The Times of India

Unlike Pakistani hindus who are being converted by force, I see how politely non-hindus convert to hinduism and as a bonus convert church into a temple. jaye hind

Nah not so crude. Generally, it is more sneaky and invidious. Like presenting Jesus as one of the gods of Hindu pantheon.

Also preaching that Hindu scriptures are incomplete without the grace of Jesus and so on. This is followed by displacing all Hindu gods to the one and truly powerful Jesus.

I see. long as now one is forced to convert.
I'm personally agnostic. so if it proven Hindu gods are real I'll become a Hindu :-)

Forcing also happens because if you get the husband converted, it automatically follows that the wife and kids have to convert too if they want to continue being a family or get thrown out. Parents and siblings are disowned if they do not convert. So there is a lot of societal break-up which happens with conversion. Entire villages get divided because everything related to the ancestral faith has to be disowned.

Whether the Hindu gods are real or not should be left to the Gods to prove. There is no need for you to become a Hindu and prove us right or wrong. You could if you want explore Hinduism or any other Dharmic faith as a matter of curiosity or in pursuit of knowledge.
