Best soldiers still come from the peasant stock. While the city folks in China's new generation are definitely softer those who came from impoverished villages could tolerate hardship as much, if not better, than their predecessors.

Thats true for any Army. In India the enlisted men came mainly from rural areas while officers came from urban areas, eventhough now more and more officers are coming from small towns and villages as urban folks are finding better oppurtinities in MNCs

So basically, an AMERICAN soldier (who might be ethnic Chinese) commits suicide.

Then for some reason, Abhishek and Gambit decide it's a great opportunity to bash CHINESE soldiers, even though the thread is about an American solider who committed suicide.

Maybe these guys will somehow grow a conscience, when they realize they have just been getting excited over the death of an AMERICAN soldier, but somehow I doubt it.

Seriously CD? Do you have comprehension problems. Did you miss the "imply" part in Abhishek's post? Seems like you pick up certain words and conjure up a situation without as much as an halfarsed effort to understand what the post is about, let alone the response it was to in the first place! I wonder if he was continuously sleeping on the guard duty then why was he assigned the same duty again and again.. If he was not able to do the job then he should have been put on other one.. At least that would have saved a life..

We can only wonder why this news was posted in the first place.

What happens when a man goes to sleep? He is DEFENSELESS. So what is the point of having a few guards while everyone else sleeps? So that if there is danger, everyone can have enough time to arm themselves. Heck, I am Air Force and I can understand that.

So if a man fell asleep once, he may be given another chance to redeem himself in the eyes of his comrades. But if he falls asleep the second time, he can be officially punished or he can be disciplined by his comrades at the lowest level without his military records tarnished.

The reason this news article is posted is because you Chinese boys want to make a racial issue out of this. So do not complain when I showed you your racism can cut both ways.

If I posted a story about 70 Indian Soldiers who were cut into pieces by Maoists (a regular occurence), and said "does that imply that they were indian cowards? they are useless and weak minded because they are incapable of defending themselves from a bunch of tribals."

Do you think any Indian would buy the word "imply" as some sort of defence?

Over at their new playground, these guys drooled over a rather 'gay' thread containing pictures of half nude PLA troops. May be that is the most PLA soldiers can do: Impress conscript rejects and overseas Chinese.

I'm willing to bet that someone walked in and caught some of those droolers while they were mesmerized by those half nude soldiers.

So Abhishek replied back saying that since a Chinese American committed suicide, can it be implied that all Chinese are weak, mentally.

So tell me, would you mind if I talked about dead Indian soldiers in such a manner, after they have been cut to pieces by Maoists, as long as I put the phrase "would this imply" in front of it? The specific word that Abhishek used was "cowardly" and I think the implication there would be right for this situation.

Such grammatical usage is perhaps the most commonly used flaming tool.

And of course, it goes both ways.
