So order Su-35 is the good deal. It's proven aircraft. And cheap.

J-31 is unproven aircraft, leave it some times for doing that in PLA AF before any order.

Sino-Russia Su35 deal is the special one, political trade. Su35 is not cheap near 70milion USD ... and there's no any offical news China signed the Su35 deal with Russia.

China ever exported many J-7G/MG fighters to foreign nations in Africa, MiddleEast,South Asia ... FC-31 has bigger market in these nations to replace old fighter. 160~200million USD F35 too expensive for many nations, there FC-31 will find out the customers with a reasonable price.

Future to build a large stealth figther fleet need huge cost, even developed nation few can afford all money for expensive price but FC-31 has more price advantage ... it come from Made in China.

One F-35 to face Two~Three FC-31 ... at least all r stealth fighters with AESA radars but u have more missiles than single F35. Economic Efficiency ~!

The F-35 can sell because it was started off as a joint project which included many nations
So in terms of marketing, it has already had a founding base of "investors + users"
Also the US has created many nations who are dependent on US military hardwares
Third, the US will use all methods to stop China's military products to break into its captured market. Sometimes it is pure politics, nothing to do with quality

China is by no means a novice arms merchant nor J-31 the first fighter jet that we develop
The above scenarios are well analysed before we kick off a project like J-31, We know how far can J-31 go and where to find our buyers

Sure Western's foes , in the pass Western had leverage over China by selling weapon to Taiwan and to our foes while not much thing we could do about it and we have to please these western nations by buying their commercial aircrafts in order to keep them away. Now FC-31 will be available to those who couldn't afford F-35 or under Western sanction. China can alway use the military sale as geopolitical weapon by offering a very affordable price to nullify Chinese's foe advantage on the region.

No matter how bad Western tried to portray Fc-31, they all know that as long as China has military toys for exports, China will alway have option against them. And their worst fear is if FC-31 can compete F-35 in the arm market than their geopolitcal influence on the world will be greatly reduced because other buyer nations will have choice or use as bargain such as Turkey with HQ-9, or literaly give the middle finger to F-35 and buy FC-31 instead.

China has considered to buy su35 years ago, as a backup plan to obtain russia' engine - in case china is not successful develop their own engine in time. Russia require china to buy su35 if china want to buy russia engine. China need a lot number of engine for new coming planes (J-10B, J-11B, J-15, J-16, J-20) in case their taihang engine development is not fruitfull in time.

But recently it indicate that China reap success in developing their own engine therefore they might drop consideration to buy su35.
