The military gap between China and US was enormous in the 1950’s. Considering the technological gap between the sides this should not have been even close. US had all the advantages and still lost North Korea to a volunteer army with vastly inferior military equipment.

Not really. US has a mega military base in Japan. Even the B-29 bomber are flown from Japan. Soviet only provide logistics. The brute of fighting lies on the Chinese.

WTF you are talking about? When China pushed UN troops back to the 38 line, Chinese army barely received any military or economic aid from Soviet Union. Check the movie clips again. Chinese soldiers were still using old style long rifles. No air support, no PPSh, no T34, no Katyusha.

It's true that US is far away from Korea. But sea freight was still very efficient transport measure even in 1950's. And you totally neglected another industrial country right next to the Korea peninsula------Japan. Which is a reliable supply base for US.

You may not know that CCP was once a part of KMT, and almost all the old members of CCP were party members of KMT. On April 12, 1927, when Chiang Kai Shek launched a coup, CCP split from KMT.
In 1937, CCP rejoined the KMT govt to resist the Japanese together. In 1945, Japan surrendered. In 1946, the two parties split again.

China also began to field advanced weapons of its own at some point. Chinese Type 50 sub-machine gun was one such example:

In July 1951, China and USA began armistice negotiations. By this time, the two armies had faced off on the 38 line. Both sides have no desire to continue a large-scale war, but are striving for better armistice conditions and exchange POW.
In October 1951, the Soviet Union did hand over a batch of weapons to China, but it had no much effect on the war situation.

There were about several thousands of Soviet militaries in Korea during Korean War. USSR lost 315 of them. A little bit lesser than US, I suppose.

US lost to a fourth world country that had been devastated by years of civil war and war against Japan. CKS had retreated to Taiwan with all of China gold bullion leaving China a bankrupt country. Any other country, it would have been a cake walk for US. But this is the Middle Kingdom. Even Truman himself said US lost to a bunch of laundryman. US retreated so fast that they even left behind their regiment flags now on display at Chinese museum.

The US call the Korean war ”The wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time" or the 'Forgotten war' for a reason. In fact no memorial was built for the US Korean war veterans until 1995, 40 years after the war .
