The Deputy Consul General of Pakistan in Chengdu, Mahmood Akhtar, has announced that Chinese investors want to build slaughterhouses in Pakistan to improve Pakistan’s beef export capacity.
Mahmood Akhtar said, “There are already many smart people in the Chinese city of Chengdu who want to develop slaughterhouses in Pakistan”.

China has a high demand for beef which is why efforts are being made to introduce Pakistani beef in China. For this, the quarantine authorities in Beijing are expected to visit Pakistan to observe the local slaughterhouses.

Akhtar explained,

Because Pakistan is not very advanced in slaughter technology and farming, with the help of Chinese investors in Pakistan, they can secure disease-free animals and introduce modern techniques of slaughtering and preservation of meat and the cold chain.

As this is a new development, a number of businesses are interested but they need to find the right partners who are familiar with the local environment. Additionally, the export of fresh products requires the construction of supporting facilities like cold storage.

The President of the Pakistan Sichuan Chamber of Commerce (PSCC), Li Hongwu, said,

To export Pakistani beef to China, the most difficult issue is the FMD. The breeding conditions there do not meet our requirements.

Li Hongwu added that the member companies of the PSCC had intended to visit Pakistan at the beginning of 2020 to initiate the entire beef export chain from the breeding to the marketing but the plans had been halted because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The breeding industry in Pakistan is still at a primitive stage, without large-scale and modernization. To meet the export standards, we can provide technical guidance and equipment and open the export market, but we still need to cooperate with many local companies, since we can not bring workers from China. There is still a long way to go.

Another report has revealed that Pakistan’s exports to China increased by 30 percent in November, resulting in an improved trade balance between the countries.

.
They can eat vegetables or chicken. Govt should not subsidise meat in any way.

Great opportunity for Pakistan. We need modern Slaughter houses and waste processing plant in Pakistan.
We also need to implement advance cattle farming techniques that China and western countries are using.

.
Food is the most important thing for the people.
Food is the God of the common people.

In fact, Chinese people are vegetarians according to Indian parlance, because Chinese people eat vegetables every day the first in the world. 377kg/year

Bad idea from a security stand point. This should be reviewed and coupled with planned beef cattle farms .
The demand for extra beef in Pakistan will be met by rampant cattle smuggling out of the Indian states like Rajasthan, and Guiarat who in turn will smuggle cattle from the states of UP and other Central States. There are millions of feral and abandoned cattle in India causing billions of dollars of crop damage. The temptation to smuggle cattle will be intense. Unlike Pakistan today Bangladesh has a critical shortage of beef cattle so cattle smuggling along the Indo Bangladesh border is rampant. The cattle smuggling is encouraged by corrupt security officials on both sides but creating horrible security problems for Bangladesh with agents easily infiltrating the boundaries. This also results in communal and religious tension in India where legal transport of cattle has become a dangerous occupation for Muslims where they are singled out as cattle smugglers and brutally lynched to death.
Pakistan will be a tempting target for Indian smugglers who will overburden and compromise the Rangers who are already hard put to maintain the border security.

Please leave something for pakistanis.Meat is one of the luxuries middle class is able to afford .
Same thing happened with chilgoza, prices are ridiculously high.

Excellent, this will flourish the local industry. Live stock prices will go up and the farmers will benefit,

Up until now all the livestock was smuggled to Afghanistan and Iran. This will stop. China is a massive market, its sad that Pakistan hasn't been able to explore it. But its time that Pakistan benefits from China's massive population.
