And its not about Chinese. The port was formally leased to Port of Singapore Authority (PSA). Not to mention, Chinese are going to build special economic zones over there too.

If you have an iota of info how Jebel Ali port, Dubia transformed into mega port, you would not have raised such illogical points.

We dont need Afghan land to connect with CARs. CARs are already using KK highway through the Chinese terrority to transport their goods. :sick:

Why to take an example of Sri Lanka, while our eastern neighbour has a trade deficit of $52 billion with China. :bounce:

Chinese companies will build infrastructure, operate them for a specific period of time(lets suppose 20 years), earn their profits by operating that infra. in the mean time (20 years) and after 20 years, transfer those assets to Government of Pakistan. This is what BOT is

That is the beauty of CPEC agreements. No Pakistani will ever get to know, how badly and for how long will they be get screwed by Chinese :wave:

wrong again india does not produces low grade steel rather india is the birth place of carbon or whootz steel which most of people today know as damascus steel and for 5000 years we only had the sole knowldge to produce zinc watch this clip the person here is a persian /parsi (ethnic zorastrians who came to india long long back) and a mathematics professor at IIT Bombay not any lunatic and see what he say i hope you know how hard its like to be in in any IIT let alone me BE A maths professor in it ;)


so point is we have one of the best steel and allows making industry and thats making steels and alloys for all ISRO and DRDO & HAL projetcs and here in india itself and also our nuclear projects and also due to technical apartheid of west for almost 50 years we had have develped a lots of special technologies in house

so Mr @faithfulguy do not worry our economy is not based of remmitences alone and neither on agro based products alone but much much more than you can ever imagine we make almost every thing inhouse though not on the sacle of Germany, Japan, US or China today but we are getting there and we wil get in time what we want its just matter of time

but make no mistake we will never ever submit our freedom or sovriengnity to chinese no matter how much freebies and goodies they promise ... period

China is not our ticket to prosperity, but can be one of the countries who help us prosper.

China is organising a grand two-day summit tomorrow to showcase its plans to build a network of trade routes—One Belt, One Road (OBOR)—that will connect Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

Nearly 65 countries are expected to take part in the summit though only 20 heads of state will attend. China plans to issue a joint statement at the end of the two-day summit to showcase a wide approval of its ambitious project. India and Japan have shown reluctance to attend the summit. While Japan will send a delegation, India has refused to send any representative. The US took a U-turn at the last moment and will send a representative.

What is OBOR?
Inspired by the Silk Road, the medieval trade routes between Europe and Asia, the OBOR project will be a vast network of sea and land routes across dozens of countries. It will impact 4.4 billion people. China is said to be spending $1 trillion on it. It is not one project but six major routes which will include several railways line, roads, ports and other infrastructure. China claims these economic corridors will not only build infrastructure in countries that cannot afford to do it themselves but also boost global trade. Most of the countries in Asia and all of India's neighbours, except Bhutan, are willing to take part in the project.

Who will benefit more: China or the host countries?
The participating countries will benefit in terms of infrastructure and trade. OBOR can be an easy and fast way for many small countries to acquire important infrastructure projects which they cannot afford otherwise. But all this will come at a huge hidden cost. China will lend money for OBOR projects to host countries at high rates of interest which the countries may not be able to repay.

This can lead to China acquiring equity and then controlling stakes in these projects, getting a permanent footprint in several small countries which is nearly impossible for it to achieve otherwise. OBOR can provide big long-term benefits to the Chinese economy. OBOR can give it opportunities to use its overcapacity in steel and minerals.

The trade routes will give it access to new markets. Permanent Chinese presence in dozens of countries will give China an edge over its rivals in trading with these small countries. China can even spread its manufacturing across countries as manufacturing costs such as power and wages in China are going up. If OBOR becomes a reality, it can help China create a vast economic empire in Asia and Africa.

Is it all about economy and trade?
No. China always hides its military plans in its economic projects. A vast infrastructural footprint in dozens of countries in Asia and Africa will eventually mean a strong Chinese military presence across OBOR. A small country that hosts infrastructure created by China and unable to repay the loan will be vulnerable to China's diplomatic and military moves.

Why is India not attending?
A key part of OBOR is China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a 3,000 km project connecting Pakistan's deep-water port Gwadar and China's Xinjiang. It passes through Gilgit-Baltistan region which lies in Azad Kashmir. The Chinese presence in a disputed region which India claims as part of its own territory raises sovereignty concerns for India.

India is said to have officially flagged this as its only reason for not taking part in the OBOR summit.

Thanks for acknowledging that you neither has capability nor capacity to build a port.

BTW Chinese never wanted you to hand over this port over to Singapore as they have their own strategic interests which will soon unfold.

Dubai Jebel Ali Port is not leased to any other country and is being managed by State owned Dubai Ports World, so please avoid comparing yourself with Arabs.

You don't need Afghanistan similarly the CARs do not need Gwadar they will opt for more secure Chabahar Port.

If you do not understand International Trade and do not know what trade deficit means then please refrain posting on that subject. India is adding $ 59 Billion to China's forex reserve annually and China will only invest a similar amount in Pakistan in next 15 years. Do you now understand the power of Indian economy ????

Unlike a loan , investment does not means the returns are guaranteed. Meaning , like a Indian firm went in Sudan, bought a oil field on lease , and then develop the infrastructure , even then the Indian company will not have the rights to demand its investment money back, if the project runs into a failure.

But if that Indian Company is proving money to the oil agency of Sudan through India. BANK, then that Sudanese company, and the Government of Sudan will have to pay back to the Indian bank at any cost.

Hope this solves the difference between a investment and a loan
