If China is to have military alliance with other countries it is more for the counter balance the belligerents of US/NATO group. If such alliance can be formed and enlarge it will indeed tame down the west to some degree and world peace can achieved, especially in the Middle East.

In the modern days, perhaps, balance of powers is the best deterrence of wars.
