Chinese official media and several major defence websites admitted days ago that China is in the process of developing a stealth strategic bomber - "Red B2".

Sorry no pic yet, of course. Here is a B2, sth similar:

Alongwith the successful development of Y-20, China has accumulated all the in-house technologies, including engines, for Red B2. The finance is not a problem and the timing is ripe.

The consensus on the mil fora seems to be that it would be slightly smaller than B2, aiming mainly to cover Guan, Hawaii to the East (or the US East Coast in case it's a bigger version), Darwin(AUS) in the South, Diego Garcia / entire India in the S West, Western Asia/Eastern Africa in the West.

- Wait to see which will have its maiden flight first this time, PAKDA or China's "Red B2".

- In terms of timing for the full induction, however, the proper competitor of "Red B2" is generally considered to be the legendary "4+ gen" LCA Tejas. The game is on...

The bomber was in development since 1990s. And please post the sources.

Hey SS, we knew that it has been WIP for a long time. But it´s the official confirmation this time that matters.

So when the official confirmtion cpmes that the program exists, it usually means it´s near finished, right? :D

. .
Not really a big surprise and it would be easier to develop than the J-20/J-31 fighters due to the fact that it does not require dry-thrust super-cruise engines nor great manoeuvrability.

. . . .
when will china come up with an original concept instead of. copying USA

The DF-21D is a chinese thing, but to your accusation, yea China copies US, so what?

The key is to achieve enough military power to protect interests and project influence, as long as China does that, who cares how it does it.

Only idiots care about ingenuity, when the end result could be lose of independence and/or humiliation.

It's called the lesser of two evils.

having enough military muscle to protect homeland that thing china has always been doing. nothing new here.
but to invent something that don't exist is something only west has done so far..even in military tech
Right now China should be a major player in higho tech arms export and that can only he done with inventions .
current strategy is making cheap copies of whatever the west makes ans selling to. ountries whon no body sells weapons such as Pakistan.
even that isn't without lack of innovation.
the only jet fighter China exported jf17
the project has gone cold due to Chinese failure to make an engine.
a nation who flies her planes with foreign engines can make B 2 or a flying saucer .
it will still fly with a foreign engine so what's the point

.
Wait till the 2020s and you will start seeing original stuff.

It is normal to "copy" when you are behind.

Agreed.

Or

It is the most efficient (i.e. faster, cheaper, safer hence overall better) to "copy" as far and as many as you could when you are behind. Fixed for ya :D

Romans copied their weapons, organization, and government amounts other things.
The swedes were the first to use the gun in an effective manner that eliminated the need for pikeman.
Oda nobunaga invented three line shooting
Chinese cannons at the time of ming was world class.
Chinese style central government's only match is the Romans and not matched again until pretty late into history.
Chinese army organization government and generally culture was copied by all east Asian and some south asian countries.
India had buddism.
Arabs had numbers, science which the Crusaders took back after the crusades to start the renaissance.
US style government is loosely based on Romans and British.
American Navy used European methods and for a time imported and don't get me started on what the Americans learned from defected Russians and defeated Germans.

All countries copy, to some extent. There's a saying in China endure the humiliation, this is all to bid time to rise.

If it seems that you don't have the stomach to be mocked in the early stages, then you won't be applauded in the latter stages.

The Chinese engine is making progress, and actually is making me happy that it's having trouble because to me it's not failure it's a high bar for entry which when completed will give China a edge that only a handful of countries has.

Just like my 6 pack and muscles, the diet, the exercise, the self control was crazy but it gives me encouragement that not too many people can do it.

no, there's sth new, very friggin NEW: it happens that China's opponent, aganist whom China has tried to protect her homeland, is the most powerful militarty power in the world, the US, at this moment. This fact makes all the difference. Hence what to make, when to make, make how many, what´s the efficiency, etc. are both tacticle and strategic at the highest level.

This, however, is fundamentally different from the scenario if China were to go against a minor pushup like India though, as the current fifty H-6K each with 6 CJ-10 cruise missles, totaling 300 just for 1 wave(with only the US can match this firepower at the moment) can blanket-bomb India into the into age of Arjuns, twice, so no need for a new bomber.

Accompanied by J-20s, this new bomber fleet will render every US mil facilities inside the circle made of Diego Garcia, SE Asia/Northern Australia, Guan and Western Alaska obsolete, let alone the ones in Japan and S Korea, eventually forcing the US retreating back to Hawaii leaving China taking the control of the Western pacific.

This, is sth, of major strategic significance, far more than things like J-31s or Y-20!

Total Bull§hit, to be brutally honest.

When Europeans were still using swords and armored knights the chinese were fighting with guns, rocket launchers, multistage rockets, land mines, naval mines, grenades, poison gas, flamethrowers, repeating crossbows armed with explosive bolts rendered by its translator into English as Fire Drake Manual; in modern English, Fire Dragon Manual) is a 14th century military treatise that was compiled and edited by Jiao Yu and Liu Ji of the early Ming Dynasty (1368–1644 AD) in China. It outlined the use of various ‘fire–weapons’ involving the use of gunpowder.

The Huolongjing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huolongjing) provided information for various gunpowder compositions, including ‘magic gunpowder’, ‘poison gunpowder’, or ‘blinding and burning gunpowder’. It had descriptions of the Chinese hollow cast iron grenade bomb, shrapnel bombs, and bombs with poisonous concoctions. The book had descriptions of the 10th century Chinese fire arrow, a simple wooden arrow with a spherical soft casing attached to the arrow and filled with gunpowder, ignited by a fuse so that it was propelled forward (and provided a light explosion upon impact). However, the book explained how this simple ‘fire arrow’ evolved into the metal-tube launched rocket. The book provided descriptions of various rocket launchers that launched tons of rockets at a time, the advent of the two stage rocket having a booster rocket igniting a swarm of smaller ones that were shot from the mouth of a missile shaped like a dragon, and even fin–mounted winged rockets. The book described the use of explosive land mines and descriptions of explosive naval mines at sea and on the river; this incorporated the use of a complex trigger mechanism of falling weights, pins, and a steel wheel lock to ignite the train of fuses. The book described various proto–guns including the fire lance (a short-burst flame-thrower that emitted a charge of shrapnel), multiple metal barrel handguns (with up to ten barrels), and descriptions of handguns with possible serpentine locks, used as components in matchlock firearms. The book provided descriptions of the early bombard and cannon, including the use of hollow gunpowder–packed exploding cannonballs, cannon barrels filled with metal balls containing poisonous gunpowder solutions, and cannons that were mounted on wheeled carriages so that they could be rotated in all directions.

Who made J6? j-7? J-8? Q5? K-8?... transpoters, trainers, AWACS, etc. exported to allover Asia, South America, Middle East and Africa for the last 4 decades? India?

To make sth like B2, one needs overall tech and production facilities to make at least 150 tons class heavy transporters, experiences of stealth design and the cutting edge material science - only 3 countries can do it - the US, Russia and China. Or 4, if the EU counted as 1.

...oh gee, I must have forgotten supapawa India :hitwall: Think who will sell long distance strategic stealth bombers to india then when it issues its standard global tender in the future? Martians! :agree:

Its hard for people to digest that USA stole a lot from Germany after the second world war......funny thing is they still keep tabs on Japan and Germany to extract whatever they can that might be helpful in their own progress. From military hardware to intellectuals Americans stole whatever they could..........and then they waste no moment in praising their products as top-notch.....The rest of the work is done by their media. Speaking of stealing remember the Chinese movie they copied to make The departed and then without any shame they gave oscars to the American one. :omghaha:
China is on right path here.....why should she waste time in re-inveting the wheel, China has got a good thing going on and should stick to that......Despite the western malicious designs to keep China behind in technology, China is catching up with western tech at a staggering pace and thats what counts.

The Chinese, as other East Asians, are gentically gifted in engineering due to the highest average spatial IQ in the world, higher than Germans, and far higher than the Ashkenazis Jews even who get the lead in verbal IQ though. Given some ´recoving` time, Chinese engineering will lead the world again.
