China offers 500 mln-dollar loan to Pak for IP gas pipeline project

According to Najam Sethi, U.S will not sanction countries. Only instituions that help Iran. First our own State Bank considered financing then they backed out. Will Chinese Banks feel the same pressure ?

Has there been any official confirmation of this $500 million financing deal by either Islamabad or Beijing? All we have is a newspaper report quoting an embassy employee in Teheran, so far.

.
Looking forward to the success of this great project!

Perhaps im missing some thing but China who.

A personal gripe but it does bug me that people say China like its all one entity. Is the finance coming from the Chinese goverment a Chinese bank or Chinese companies all different scenarios. It as silly as when people say "the west" like half the world is all one entity.

Just when Iranian President mentioned that the pipeline can be extended to the North of Pakistan ... The message was clear to those who understand the developing situation of the region ...

the timing cant be ignored

the offer made to Pakistan by China was issued the day after US State Department issued another ridiculous statement about how I-P pipeline is not in Pakistan's favour and that it was risking UN sanctions and this and that and this and that

i dont think Pakistan should take Obama's admin very seriously....their take on it is irrelevant

In these matters , a strict no-no

Indeed , it is interesting ... Just when the day US state dept thought it would be helpful for them to poke their nose in the matter , the Chinese checkmated it by offering $ 500 mn making it abundantly clear what the Iranian President was trying to say by mentioning the " extension of IP to Northern Areas of Pakistan " ... It should not be their concern whether IP or TAPI is relevant for Pakistan since it is us who are suffering from energy crisis , the US mainland's fine ! What United Nations sanctions were they talking about ? We are purchasing gas and paving way for more investments and economic prosperity in the country and not nukes or biological or chemical weapons , how is that wrong ? They can go another 100 times saying the same thing in a different manner but this time things are different , the PPP Govt didn't have spine to take this decision without the backing of GHQ and an approval nod from Beijing ... There are no sanctions coming , the world still needs us for a long time to come more than most people can imagine ...

Yes , when they couldn't offer Pakistan anything viable for its needs , like civil nuclear power or investments in hydropower projects , they have lost all rights to say a damn thing ... The same goes for Gulfees ! Unrealistic American stooges who had nothing to offer but advice that Islamabad shouldn't try to solve this crisis and leave the country's economy paralyzed ...

@darkinsky

Yes , Americans would sanction Chinese banks which runs its economy to a large extent :rofl: Nice one , made my day ...

China has shown interest in making dams, fixing railways, solving Pakistan’s energy crises, they want to pull Pakistan out of US influence, they want to help Pakistan in exploring mineral resources & etc. In my opinion China should be allowed to help develop Pakistan. China is Pakistan’s true friend.

Are you crazy or something?

@darkinsky @Secur

dont snoop around for "conspiracy" theory here! We can easily walk away and still wish your project good luck!

Ignore the lunatic.

It's more like China has already got stronghold in Pakistan. US seems to be at the losing end.

China wants to see Pakistan our of US influence & they are trying their best to pull Pakistan out of US influence. US has always harmed Pakistan & it is in the best interest of Pakistan to break free & kick US away.

Looking forward to the success of this great project!

I hope the whole of Pakistan benefits from this project & it is not limited to Punjab only. Since this pipeline is coming from Balochistan province I hope the province is developed & they benefit from this project.

The last news that i had heard about it was that,

"Pakistan (OGDCL) has arranged $1 billion in costs related to the pipeline construction within it's borders."

With Chinese side willing to offer $500 million.This thing is surely extending towards north.

Edit

the project, which involves the laying of a 780 kilometre (485 mile) section of the

pipeline on the Pakistani side, expected to cost some $1.5 billion.

Now that links it up.
