Featured China Mars rover successfully landed

The US landed its first lander on Mars in 1976 and rover in 1997. So yes Waz, China is literally years behind.

It wasn’t a barb aimed specifically at the US however that being said we have seen plenty of posters say that the Chinese won’t be able to do it.
Now they are the second nation that has joined your one on Mars.

LOL.. Stop kidding yourself. Those lander and rover US put in 1976 and 1997 are toys. Ask yourself , what is the weight of the US rovers on Mars in 1997? 15kg.. I can even buy a bigger toy from walmart and trash that kiddy.

Zhurong is 240kg. On par with US Mar Rovers only 10 years ago. 10 years behind is not alot....

1997 was the year F-22 made first flight. 1997 was pinnacle of US technology. Zhurong is also far bigger and more advanced than Pathfinder. So what's your point? And no. China is not decades behind US as you put it. In fact, China is well ahead of the US in certain areas. Zhurong is equipped with laser spectrometer and magnetometer for example.

If we are comparing size then certainly F-35 is no match for the much bigger J-20. So what your point? Size isn't everything.

Lolol and yet the US needed soyuz to go to ISS. Lololololol. Burn

 They even got cheek to laugh at Soviet. Just 1-2 years ago, they still need to use this so called junk by American as the only meant to space.

Look how miserable they look inside there, squeeze like satin. China Shenzhou at least is much bigger and roomy.

Soviets owned the US during the space race. Every major space landmark was done by USSR. Except moon landing*.

The US launched its first satellite less than 4 months after the Soviets and first man in space only 3 weeks after. In space and aeronautics engineering that’s a razor thin lead.

If you want an example of dominance, China just visited its first planet in the Solar System, while NASA has visited every single one.

Landing on Mars has become routine for NASA. China might be only the second nation to land a rover on Mars, but relative to NASA, China is still playing in the sandbox.

Okay well, China ain't racing the US. Chinese military and space program have very small budget. Chinese military is only 1% of GDP for example. US spends 5% of GDP on military.

And the US is still landing on the Mars after 40.years, you get what I meant?

NASA and Perseverance just achieved the first powered flight on another planet and will collect the first Mars samples for a return mission. We’re at the forefront, you are a follower.

It's okay, we don't mind US was also following the Soviets. Lololol

So after 40 yaers the innovation you did was just a different landing technique and launching a drone which DJI can probably make a better one. Lol.

How far do you think we are from collecting samples from Mars since we already have the technology for retrievals.

US has landed and has a rover on Mars.

LOL... China landed on Mars on our first attempt unlike some who has the luxury to try many times before getting it correct.

Boasting with using Russian rocket engine. There is nothing to be proud of. LIke UAE buying Japanese rocket.

No, after 40 years, NASA has been to every planet in the Solar System, and continues to lead the way in space exploration. When China achieves something of note in space, outside the shadow of NASA, let me know. Following others is easy, leading the way is hard.

Just look at SpaceX today. Another perfect example of American innovation and excellence. And now Chinese private space companies are coming out of the woodwork..........following.
