China Leads Race to the Moon

.
Actually I don't understand why space techs of US and USSR didn't get large improvement since they can send people to the moon 40 years ago. Their rockets still fail today…
If we succeed to send people to the moon before 2020, I do believe we can find Chinese face on Mars around 2060.:cheesy:

.
the race was won in 69'

That was a 69's race. Wasn't that between US and Russia? Since an contest has taken place, no other contest can be held again. Is that right?

.
The USA has for a long a time now been building up an illusion of their own devising that they are are the super-advanced state that nobody can ever hope to reach their level. China has shown that in a few decades that whatever USA knows, they can learn and reach in a very short space of time. It just takes a lot of money, organization and manpower.

USA, and Russia to a lesser extent, got a massive jump up the tech ladder when they made the coup of acquiring the best Nazi scientists, after WW2. Both countries used them to their own advantage and they both remain technological forces today. However, China, whether by hook or crook, have acquired much of USA's and Russia's technology over the last few decades and now have the money and infrastructure to push on from where the USA and Russia have stagnated in recent times, because of domestic and economic restraints.

Unlike USA and Russia, China don't do vanity missions to claim prestigious titles of first this or that. They have a pragmatic objective for spending the vast amounts of money to get to the moon. Helium-3 and mineral riches of the moon are the objectives.

I agree with you, China takes a pragmatic approach to space explorations, e.g. natural resources.

However, I believe US and Japan will continue to lead in terms of cutting edge techs, and more importantly, vision. We might have late mover advantage to close up the gap with US in the last few decades, but I personally think that unless we drastically reform our education/research system, the best minds on this planet will always blossom in the US/Japan school campuses, may those minds be born in US Germany Lithuania or even China.

Our hard working and industrious people brought us to today's level, but moving up needs not just an industrious spirit but brilliant minds, and that's what we can't manufacture.

There is 2 angles to SPACE: one is as mentioned natural resources/military aspect the second and more important is understanding the Universe and exploration and this is where we should join hands and cooperate.

You are just saying you are a pessimistic Chinese (if you are) which is unwarranted

I agree. As US/Japan have better soil for new ideas, they would continue to inspire and lead the rest of the mankind in space science exploration.

I disagree
We - China is behind due to the devastating internal and external sufferings that we have tragically experienced in history
China is now a serious challenger to usa and japan in just literally the late 10-20 years
You are just another pessimist on the block - another one too many on PDF

Nobody has any right to stop us from exploring the resources on the moon. NOBODY, period! Can we get this clear?

actually China signed the outer space treaty to refrain from exploring the resource on moon, China can explore the moo, but cannot touch the resource.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outer_Space_Treaty

If country were allow to explore for resource in epace, would the moon be already be mined out by the American already??

Title is so misleading :|

If i'm not wrong, Moon race was between USA and SU and to my knowledge it was won by USA hands down in 1969.

History will praise first man on moon and not first Chinese on moon :P

.
  1. During last Oil Energy Revolution, ppl created cars/ jets / steel ships on the earth
  2. During future Nuclear Fusion Energy Revolution, ppl will creat spaceship & Great Space Exploration
It can come true in this 100 years of 21-century ... future everything will now start from the Nuclear Fusion device & Helium-3 on the Moon.

as i said before, you can explore the space, but no one on this earth (Including the Chinese and American) can explore for resource in the outer space, we all sifned the outer space treaty which forbit anyone in the earth to space/moon mine...

I wouldn't say I am pessimistic. In contrary, I want us to be humble enough to see our shortcomings and deal with it, not blindly satisfied on our current progress. Our education system, IP protection, etc., need to improve drastically so that we can truly excel. We can manufacture hardware, no problem, we are industrious and diligent. However, we need a soil for bright minds to shine, and get protected by law.

Don't get me wrong, I love my country, and optimistic that we will excel. I for one get tertiary educated in this country, and get exposed to the international business by working in a large state-own corp, all thanks to my country. My fellow Chinese, see our shortfalls compared to US/Japan, reform ourselves, and excel. .
