What's new

China is economically WAY AHEAD of Vietnam and India

Initially you said it is Apple to open 100 Apple stores in Vietnam in the next year; later you downgrade it to "next 3 years"; now you said it is FPT to open the Apple Stores, i.e. they are not Apple Stores, but resellers. Good movement, at least you start to realize how stupid your initial claim about Apple to open 100 Apple Stores in Vietnam is.

Trust to the Jap people? Take a read at the posts from your best friend here.

Opps... I almost forgot. You praise on the honesty of Japanese people should be viewed as nothing but a joke That has been admitted by you already.

You are biased about Japanese people because you are chinese. No I am not stupid otherwise I would jump off window because I thought I could fly. Ok I made a gramma mistake. not a big deal. FPT opens 100 Apple stores in the next 3 years not 1, and fact remains, the stores are authorized by Apple selling original Apple stuffs.

In my eyes that is a big leap forward, because until now Viet fans of iPhones usually need to fly to Singapore to buy. Sleeping overnight on streets included.

Although I have no good impression toward Vietnamese e.g those Vietnamese bash China on Quora are no different from ISIS religious fanatics, all are idiots brainwashed by VCP or stupid collapsed Southern Vietnam government, I'm still very optimistic about the future of Vietnam as long as VCP don't elect a leader as stupid as Lê Duẩn again. Vietnam should at least surpass Thailand and be on par with Malaysia in the next 20 years.

All criticism aside, Vietnam is much better than SP2012.

bro I am disappointed by your comment, I had expected you acted somewhat different. Too bad, you ruined my day.
Ah, my bad, ruined a day for you.
Just some bad taste humor, don't take it too seriously.
From the way I see it, the Chinese members were not harsh with you with their comments, especially @TaiShang.
My friend, why get angry? We are all well-wisher to Vietnam, because the better off Vietnam is, the better off China-Vietnam trade is.
I still hold the belief that the upcoming/ongoing growth miracle will be/is taking place in Southeast Asia. And Vietnam is an important component of it.

@AndrewJin also had good words for Vietnam.
India should compete with Vietnam first....
Vietnam is light years ahead in terms of social order, work ethics, cleanness on the street, etc.
Cheers.

That's for sure. Vietnam and North Korea should become our most intimate brothers. The problem is they should abandon their old perception of Chinese hegemony over them, this is a brand new age very different from old days.

Praise is praise, that's for a country.
But some members' comments and threads are actually humiliating their own country.

Does the website list stores to be opened in the next 3 years?

You are the one who shall do more homework. No matter you believe or not I have great trust to the Japanese people.
Groundless claim?

I posted the source from Nikkei, one of most reliable sources of information on our planet, with history going back longer than the people republic of China, with the high moral work ethic of Japanese people.

You don’t want to say the Japanese are liars?

Business model between the two US companies are almost similar. Apple doesn’t own a single manufacturing factory, it licenses others to manufacture the products.

Your knowledge is weak in economy I believe.

Hi @EastWind, I kind of agree with you on that some Chinese has a tendency to tease or "insult" (the word you used) other countries or people. But saying VN is going to have 100 Apple retails stores is just groundless, my friend. May I advise that, in China, back in 2015, we had 15 Apple outlets, and now we have 51 or something. I can not imagine how come VN could have 100, especially, next year.

If most Chinese members have claimed China is already an economic super power surpassing USA, then such thread is legit.
Clearly @Martian2 was responding to some ignorant members who had some bogus claims.
Hi Andrew.

You should ignore SiegeCrossbow. He's anti-China. He is always critical of China, but tries to hide it.

I ignore him and I think you should too.
----------

To be clear, the original post for this thread made the point that China is almost un-catchable.

People have this idea that India will catch China Today in the next 20 years. As I had shown, India WILL NOT consume as much energy as China for another 83 years.

Similarly, while PPP is a subjective measure, it is still amazing that Vietnam will not have China Today's standards of living for another 15 years.

This thread was not aimed at India or Vietnam. The point is that no developing country in Asia will match Today's China in important benchmarks for a very long time.

As I've said many times before, if you don't like my thread topic then don't read it.

It should be obvious that this thread was not aimed at India or Vietnam. I think this is the first thread that I've created on PDF about India or Vietnam in many years.

The last thing that I need is to be nagged by SiegeCrossbow on political correctness. I have no intention of saying "anonymous countries in Asia" in my comparisons. I'll pick whatever country that I find interesting.

India was picked, because of its large population and territory.

Vietnam was picked, because it is improving in per-capita GDP. Thailand slid backwards for a couple of years and was not a suitable candidate. Laos and Cambodia are too poor and not improving much.
----------

Regarding SiegeCrossbow's criticism: "Imagine if someone started a thread with the title 'U.S. is way ahead of China in economic development'. How would many of the posters here feel?"

If someone wants to start a thread with that topic, go right ahead. Everyone knows it's true. That's why I won't read it, but I have no objection to such a thread. If someone finds the topic interesting and worth exploring, go ahead and start a thread.

You won't see me arguing to censor you.

I think your scientism and empiricism create discontent in those who hate scientific (non-value based) approach. This is also the case, as far as I know, with your commentaries in other forums that I used to bump into (but for long no time to check them out unless you share them here with a screen shot).

It is obvious from the beginning that the thread is not aimed at to be insulting. Comparing numbers and seeking understanding is not a form of insult, libel or slander.

As for the argument of "US is way ahead of China," well, I guess we are agreeing on this almost on daily basis. This is not a revelation and not an insult.

As a developed country, it may even be funny to be compared to a developing country which aims at eradicating poverty by 2020.

As long as we do not claim moral high ground, judge others by our own historical experience, and attempt to lecture others about how they should live their public life, we should be able to make comparative analysis.

i always appreciate and enjoy analysis from @TaiShang @Martian2 based on data, statistics, factual information and logical deconstruction and reconstruction.

You'll have a good laugh.

Months ago, I posted a comment on The Washington Post about a China-related article.

Some guy was upset at what I wrote and he said: "They should award the Star of Lenin to you."

Haha. I get under people's skin with my factual and logical analyses.
----------

So, many of you might be wondering why I don't write articles criticizing China.

The reason is that the American mainstream media scrutinizes China in microscopic detail. There's really nothing new for me to say.

China's biggest domestic problem: it's probably air pollution (which they're working on by switching to LNG)
China's biggest strategic weakness: a dependency on imported oil
China's long-term challenge: ensuring education is not focused on rote-memorization and more based on creative problem-solving

Unfortunately, the US media has covered all of these topics in excruciating detail. I don't think that I can add anything new or a deeper level of analysis.
