JL-2A is one of China's important deterrent weapons against USA, it is surely not reserved for Japan.

But Japan is also scared since their American daddy now will be very hesitant to go the war with China for them, now they will have no backup and have to face China on their own.

some thoughts:

this is in fact an excellent move by the PRC. US and Japan has massive ADIZ therefore they can say nothing about the creation of a chinese one other than the standard, "chinese aggression" blah, blah (aka bad press that wont change whether or not this particular event happened)

by creating the zone, china is clearly challenging japanese control over the disputed islands, furthermore they are calling Abe's bluff, will he really shoot down a chinese drone? any japanese f-15 that enters the zone will be shadowed by chinese su-27/j-11/j-10 and if they fired on the drone in effect they would have fired first on the chinese during a tense game of chicken, thereby allowing freedom of action for china to retaliate(such as engaging the aggressors and/or announcing the closing of airspace over the diaoyu islands) and giving no excuses for the US to get involved.

in essence japan has to be the aggressor now, if japan doesnt escalate(aka shoot down drones), its claims and facts on the ground change massively. it loses massive amounts of credibility and essentially gives china the control of the air(and therefor the ground/sea). but if it does escalate it becomes the clear aggressor. either way, win-win for china

Military spending should always be the main priority of the central government. Education, infrastructure, pension, etc should be left up for local government and private investors. When you devote the central budget to welfare you end up like a failed European state.

China is being fully contained by US, Japan, India, Vietnam, Philippines, Australia.

PLA is still decades behind Japan in technology let alone the US military. Unless more money is given to military, the technology gap will never close between the PLA and Japan. Forget about the US. Even lowly India has 3 aircraft carriers.

25% of the central budget should be the bare minimum that should be allocated to military spending. 75% for other things is more than enough. Infact even 75% for other things is too much. Local government should be spending money on education, infrastructure, etc.

The main priority of the central government is national security, that is its primary role.

Central budget is $1 trillion. 25% of that is $250 billion. $250 should be the floor on military spending for China.

Only loony liberals wants to waste money on useless welfare projects that gives ZERO benefit to China's future.

Soviet Union didn't collapse because of its military spending, it collapsed due to its rigid economic system where there was no market for goods & services, factor prices, etc.
