China communist party paper says China should join TPP

I like this broad mined, constructive thinking individual. As you probably already know, the TPP will play a role in serving as a conduit for necessary internal reforms that the CPC currently is not able to accomplish due in fact to the deep seated tendencies of civil administration as well as market realities in China. TPP will ensure that China makes the necessary environmental law reforms, corporate law as well as even more civil liberties reforms. In fact one can even argue that with TPP, China will erode the CPC's power , and prepare China to become a fertile ground for more political maturation into a democracy. :)

BIT will be realized after China is included into the TPP. Mark my words.

Yes, he sounds very broad minded and astute. I like the red part, he is suggesting China needs to accept compromises? That China cannot eliminate all the negatives but just need to minimize them. He sounds like a realist.

Preparing China to become a fertile ground for more political maturation into a democracy? That is a great vision! I’ve always said previously that the TPP would be good for China, I don’t know exactly how, but that is my intuition. Let’s hope it so.

shit,You are lying.

How do I didn't see the news?
I wait for the TPP into a shit.

Why in fact the day China democratizes, is the day Taiwan will return to the motherland. :)

尽管TPP的基本原则与我国改革开放方向有相通之处,这并不意味着我国应马上加入TPP。对于TPP,我国应持续紧密关注,根据国内改革进展,适时选择加入,最大限度降低为加入付出的代价。
basically says should keep an close eye on TPP, if fit with internal Chinese progress, join at right timing (if not, don't join). This is nothing new btw, it's always been the official narrative.

he is saying (IF) to join, the compromises should be minimum which applies to all negotiations.

it's actually not a comment strongly rooting for joining TPP, just state some positive parts of TPP overlap with certain need of Chinese internal reforms, which are considered to be OK generally.

Excuse me,is Vietnam a democracy country?

Why not democratize Vietnam first?
I mean, smaller country is easier to reform if they want to.
Wait, how about Brunei? :pop:

Brunei does not have the social parameters to be a democracy. That society is an islamic theocracy under the veil of absolute monarchy.

Vietnam, too, will not escape its eventual democratization. :)

An over populated country like China is hard to be democratized. JMHO, don't get overly excited Chinese people. \

Thank you. So its like what the Reuter article said, there is a warning that there can be negative things about the TPP, but there are also many positive things. So he is suggesting that China should be open minded, and if it is good in the future, China should join the TPP, compromising as smallest as China can.

Why does your countrymen here get so upset about that?

Hi Mike,

If India can be democraticized, if Indonesia can be democraticized, if Brazil can be democraticized, then China can be democraticized. In fact China can be democraticized successfully --- the case study of Hong Kong and Taiwan and Singapore is proof. :)

yorozuya, TPP is simple. It's objective is to balance trade power among nations. Of course, it was all planned by USA and the allies. If Chian wants to join TPP, it wouldnt' be easy. USA would demand China to become more democratic which China wouldn't want to do.

Confucian societies are inherently fertile grounds for the social constructionist theories of democracy and republicanism.

Proof is in:

  1. Japan
  2. South Korea
  3. Taiwan
  4. Singapore
  5. Hong Kong

No way its gonna happen and it doesn't make any sense. To join TPP you have to negotiate with All 12 TPP members one by one, and of course it will be more time-consuming and tougher than only a deal with USA. And BIT is only part of FTA, only addressing on the open market issues. Though it is the most important part of FTA, it is still not all.

I disagree. I believe one thing is true if you notice CPC Plennum is their ability to adapt. In fact on its very systemic functionalism , the CPC and the Chinese Congress is democratic and participatory in nature, the only difference is the mechanisms are more so socialist in functionality. The fact that they have the framework is more proof that China , specifically the CPC can modify governance modules to be more "democratic" in the western contextual understanding.
