Laser television has slowly emerged in the Chinese market with Qingdao-based Hisense releasing a home theater set with a 100-inch laser TV on Sept. 10.

Before that, two other Chinese electronics manufacturers, Guangfeng Huaying and Changhong Electronic, had released laser TVs.

Laser TV is not an especially new technology, though major players have yet to produce a commercially. Mitsubishi released a prototype for 40-inch laser TV in 2006. LDT, Sony, Hitachi, Toshiba and Epson, as well as Samsung and LG have all developed laser TVs but not put products on the market.

Shanghai's National Business Daily has predicted laser TVs will become popular as the technology and market mature. An Orient Securities research report forecast that the share of laser TVs in the market for over 65-inch TV sets will increase by 2% next year to 35 billion yuan (US$5.7 billion).

Beijing has listed "new-generation laser display technology" as a designated field for. After years of efforts, Chinese enterprises have now acquired many patents related to the manufacturing of laser TV.

Industry expert Liu Bucheng told the National Business Daily that the current release of different display technologies is the last bid by companies to make money before the next generation of display technology is born.

Hisense introduces first Laser Cinema worldwide :coffee::enjoy:

QINGDAO, China, Sept. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- If monochrome, color and LCD television represent the three important eras in the development of display technologies, the dawn of the fourth era took place on September 10th, with the introduction of the Laser Cinema by Hisense. Hisense looks forward to winning a controlling position in next-generation display technologies in world markets through its leading position in the emerging laser display technology.

Hisense general manager Liu Hongxin gave a clear definition of the Laser Cinema at the press conference announcing the technology. The new home theater technology uses the short throw technology, which can produce a 100-inch or larger viewing area with only a distance of 50 cm from the wall or viewing area, making a super large-screen display in a 15-square-meter living room a reality. Meanwhile, the system comes equipped with a passive moderate-gain reflective screen, which enables full HD display capable of delivering realistic and natural-looking images. The technology does not cause eye-strain even after many hours of viewing. In addition to providing users intelligent multi-screen connections and the ability to deliver massive amounts of content, the home theater incorporates Hisense's latest VIDAA operating system, and features 3D display, motion sensing games and connected intelligence. These product definitions, which differentiate the Laser Cinema from LCD flat-panel televisions and traditional projection home theaters, provide the new technology with unique advantages. The price is approximately one-tenth that of televisions of the same size.

Data from Display Search demonstrate that Hisense has evolved into the world's fourth largest television manufacturer, with the company ranking first in sales in China for the past 10 years. As the pioneer and leader in laser home theater, Hisense is expected to become the third largest television manufacturer globally, with a portfolio containing both small-screen and large-screen products.

I hope we continue to break world ground and offer at low price to shut these foreign firms up.

People across the world do not give so much importance to Low price, They prefer quality. No high end Chinese good is popular (In fact visible) in India.

If people didn't care about the price, why would Japanese electronic companies facing financial difficulties? Everybody would simply buy the most expensive gadgets/cars/home appliances, fly in a private jet, dine in expensive restaurants instead of queuing at the McDonalds. Not everyone would go for quality because price does matter.

Mr Zhou strikes again

Yes,

Like Mr. Zhou exposed your space program, I expose your UHD TV. It must be very painful to You. I can understand your pain. When your hype is exposed, you have to take some extra pain to defend it by working very hard. Too much work for Just 50 Cent, isn't it?

I guess Indians must be too high tech to use these TVs. They rather use black and white TV on bollock cart (Sony of course).
