Can we bring back Pakistan to this position again or now it is impossible?

The man who helped bring about that 8.4 GDP growth rate is Fmr. PM. Shaukhat Aziz. His economic policy was productive, Gwadar, promoted Pakistan as a place for investment, growth in FDI, expanding tax net, low rate mortgage (construction boom), increae funding for education, improvements in banking and availability of capital, etc.

I give a lot of "credit" to PM Shaukhat Aziz, pun intended.

Good analysis of S. Aziz.

Indeed he was a great person.he was equal to MMS in economic improvement

the present one dont even know what GDP stand for

Well on the positive side, US will start withdrawing this year, which should really help a lot.

Basically WoT is our major problem and as soon as it ends, many of our main problems will go away. Certainly many of the problems with economic growth will go away, which is one of the reason why Bharat wants the war to go on for eternity if possible. Then, assuming we're not sanctioned, we can have 6-8% growth again, and if we have better leadership, we can have 8-10% growth.

Even if US maintains 20 or 30k tropps, that shouldn't be an issue because that much presence is basically irrelevant. They had similar numbers in 2005 as well.

We were growing with 8.4% annualy in 2005.

take politician's words with a pinch of salt. Pakistan's inflation adjusted Growth rate has not crossed India's since 1993, except in 2000 when India grew at 4% and Pak at 4.3%

In 2005, India grew at 9.3% and Pak at 7.7%

^ Ok, that's great to hear. Now please carry on with the topic, since that doesn't really make the OP points weak.

Pakistan has the potential to grow rapidly, but for that to happen, hard decisions will have to be taken. The terrorism problem will have to be dealt with...it is the job of the government to show foreign investors that this is a stable country and its government is willing to do whatever it takes to create a safe and economically viable environment...none of which is close to happening.
Aside from combating terrorism, it is a necessity to fulfill our energy needs....it is unheard of for a country with our resources and at our point in the economic development process for us to be unable to even provide our urban centers with adequate electricity.

1.Ending WoT is important for peace in Pakistan but it depends how it is put to an end? We will have to ensure Pakistan end at a dominant side otherwise we will come back to situation where Afghanistan was in 1996.We have many other reason for terrorism e.g secterian and tribal clashes e.g Kurram Agency.Taliban have attained such a strength that they will like to continue with the war and they will fighting their real war for power once USA exits. We had no Taliban in 1996 rightnow we have so war can start even in Pakistan,so we need to be cautious.

2.tax the sectors which are not taxed e.g transportation, agriculture, stock exchange, real estate etc.Tax to GDP should be at least 15%.

3.erradicate the corruption

4.develop thar coal, solve Balochistan issue for petrolium exploration,to end energy shortages.

.
Quite right. WoT is basically the primary thing that is driving the low economic growth. Basically i don't see economic growth going back up unless this war ends.

But sooner or later this war has to end (and for our sake, sooner).

Once it ends, Tax-to-GDP ratio is certainly an issue that needs to be resolved. Even at our current GDP, increasing tax-to-GDP ratio to 15% will give us $10 billion more in revenues, bringing our budget up around 33% to 40-45 billion USD. In addition, energy shortages are a big issue as well. I see a lot of promising projects that are under construction or in the pipeline, but we've been seeing this for a long time. We have to see how they end up.

The sh1t hit the fan with 2005 quake until the ouster of mushraff..now we are doomed with a theif called zardari

THe OP's points start with this
"The world's second-fastest growing economy after China is no longer India. It's Pakistan."
which looking at the data is a lie. Hence reduces rest of the post to the status of crappy rants

Pakistan has great potential. Its listed by Goldman Sachs in the next eleven for a reason

Next Eleven - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The only reason why we aren't growing at high rates like we should is because of our participation in this so called "WOT". Once things cool down in Afghanistan inshallah peace will come to Pakistan as well. After all Osama is "dead" now. American withdrawal from Afghanistan seems imminent.

I think we need to pass a bill that till Pakistan literacy rate reaches 75%, there should be no democratic government.

Well I propose that we should constitute a board, Comprising:

  • Chief Justice
Chief Justices of all High Courts
    Vice Chancellors of All Universities
    Army Navy PAF chiefs.
Panels comprising of respective professions (i.e. Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers etc.)

That board should Appoint a President. Who afterwards will appoint his cabinet.

In order to run an organization we look for the suitably qualified person having relevant experience to run the organization. While to run the country, we elect Jahil Ujad Ganwar who have limited visibility to their personal interests.

but who will appoint those people that appoint the president ;)

Pakistan should go for limited democracy.

When i look at history i see Pakistan has heavily grow under military rule, democracy rule has been worst. May be i 'am wrong.

In 2003 to 2007 we were developing rapidly because Musharraf was ruling, not only we were growing economically but our military achievements were touching sky. Our Rupee value too was increasing slowly, but people want to destroy & spoil everything & so they voted for world's most corrupt theif Zardari.

I hope people of Pakistan use their brains & vote for Musharraf or Imran Khan or Mustafa Kamal.
