I just realuse something, Cambodia was almost vaccinated entirely by Sinovac vaccines and had very low mortality. But people say Chinese vaccines don't work. Indonesia using Chinese vaccines had less death than US or India.
1) Developing countries tend to severely underreport deaths. Pakistan with 200mil+ people is reporting average of 0 death for the past few weeks.
India with 1.4bil people is only reporting 3 deaths per day, and reported deaths is around 500K+ while excess deaths is around ~6.4mil (1.4bil/100K*463) deaths.
askST: What is excess death and what is Covid-19's true toll on the world?
Singapore saw 2,490 excess deaths due to Covid-19 between January 2020 and June 2022. Read more at straitstimes.com.

2) Demographics play a huge role.
In the US, those aged 65+ account for ~90% of deaths, and those aged 85+ account for 38% of deaths.
From SG's stats in the past few weeks, the chances of you dying from Covid is virtually zero if you're below 80 even if you're not fully vaccinated. There is a noticeable spike only for the non-fully vaccinated aged 80+.
Cambodia's demographics:
Only 4.43% of Cambodians are above the age of 65, and 0.7% are above the age of 80.
In other words, only ~4%+ of their population belongs to moderate-risk groups aged 65+ and ~0.7% belongs to high-risk groups aged 80+.
