Business as usual in Karachi amid MQM’s mourning day call

Sorry, I label you wrong. There are few areas in Karachi where business never stop unless a curfew, as I mention earlier I post later dozens of photos where call effected, you guys not listening us mean few of us who posting here for MQM, Karachi need a political way out from this mess not the way establishment choosing since late 80's. The current and past operations just make them strong. Altaf without MQM or not is not possible right now and that's all a fight about now as establishment knows that Karachi is not like before 80's, they keep vote for whom who talk about Karachi first And that's a normal in every country. From a small town to big city people look upon who solve their local problem As federal is responsible for interior and foreign affairs.

first when bhai said ALL karachi closed.

if you want political way out. lay down your ASKARI wing should surrender and remove Altaf.

then Karachi will accept MQM all of karachi

koi apni marzi say shop bandh nhi karta altaf k k****y akar bandh karwatay. rangers danda di hui g*** mai isliye koi mqm ka k**** shops transport bandh karwanay nhi a paya

Man watch your words. You can communicate you point of view without these words.

This is fact nobody wants to close down his business for the sake of political motives ... I also have done my work and didn't care any strike call for last 2 years when I had started my own business ... But this could not be supposed that MQM lost its support ........

Very true

Good for Karachi's economy. No political or religious party should be allowed to any city hostage.

KARACHI: Smooth transport on the roads and normal business activities were witnessed in Karachi on Saturday despite Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) call to observe day of mourning against what it called extra judicial killings of its three workers near Northern Bypass.

The MQM had appealed to the traders and transporters to suspend their business activities on Saturday.

However, routine life was witnessed in the morning except of a few places in Federal B Area and Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

In a press conference on Friday, Sattar had said three MQM workers, who were in the custody of Rangers for four months, were killed extra-judicially last night. A fourth worker, he alleged, was killed by Haqiqi terrorists.

Following the announcement of “day of mourning”, DG Rangers Bilal Akbar warned against ‘forced shutdown’ of business, schools and transport in Sindh in general and Karachi in particular.

“We cannot allow anyone to bring the life in the metropolis to a paralyzing halt,” Rangers said in the statement issued here. – SAMAA

Hopefully Karachi will turn to become more peaceful city and more freedoms from MQM terrorism-extortionists-thugs. :yahoo:

Let's build more tall skyscrapers and clean sea. :big_boss:

Showing strength and that's all ... So that govt, agencies and especially world could notice their strength .........
No doubt that this party has a lot of strength but party's repute is a myth that less Lyari seat all is their but they lost defense in last election. No body would dare to run a campaign in Azizabad but after Gabool's resignation despite having zero hope PTI went in a left a mark on MQMs repute and despite of best effort they couldn't touch five figures though went very close. Again they have miscalculated and tendered their resignations on Mr AH's order on a time once party is weak due to differences within leading to grouping, having highly reduced trademark armed capability and at the lowest of their times due to AH's cases in London. Now they may lose few more seats in by elections (if their resignations are accepted) which will totally finish their myth.

Wishful thinking. Karachi is one city every wants a piece of.. from the Punjabi politicians sitting in Islamabad to the Punjabi Generals.. Remember the days of Mustafa Kamal, the hero mayor of Karachi? Even as Mayor he had no control on a big chunk of Karachi because it fell outside his jurisdiction because federal agencies hold land, municipal corporations, cantonment boards, etc.

They are vultures, tearing up Karachi to quench their bellies bit by bit; you think they have love for the people of Karachi? Yeah right!

You think Jiyala League or the Patwari League give two hoots about Karachiites? NO!

its for the simple fact that violence is bad for business.. and the Zardaris, the Nawaz Sharifs, the Malik Riaz's of Pakistan cannot milk Karachi for the money it can make them if there is street violence.. so to get fat, rich and rich+fat, you need to stop the violence so that the milking can go on..

Karachi belongs to Pakistanis and people from all over will come, stay, earn, make properties and live happily with all communities while you stay in Canada.
I don't think Mustafa Kamal's sympathizers have a narrative like yours.

Oh how naive you are! I stay in Canada because the Pashtun dominated transport mafia burnt my father's entire fleet of transport vans and buses because he was Urdu speaking and threatened the lives of my father and my entire family. So save me your naive horseshit that everyone comes to Karachi to sing kumbaya and live in peace.

So yes, lets see how welcome Punjabis or Pashtuns are when outsiders go to their land and start milking it while elbowing out the natives..

As an Urdu speaking person, one would be lucky to go in and come out alive of Karachi areas under total Pashtun control

Let's build more schools and university, study hard and play soccer. Karachi will be much better soon without political games.

Karachi belongs to Pakistan as family. No more MQM discussions, think about future and good for everyone in our country.

No nonsense.

Which is not possible unless your federal government, army, other federal agencies relinquish control over Karachi to an elected MAYOR of Karachi.. too many cooks spoil the broth, time tested wise saying.

Man I am neither Urdu or Sindhi speaking Sindhi, am living in Karachi for last 30 years, saw all the up and downs, killing by terrorists belonging to MQM, PAC, gangs, religious terrorists and TTP but did not run like you. Today I very clearly see peace not very far away. I also feel common people from all communities have no issues and they can live and work together without hatters like your.

I've got no love for MQM but I'm Urdu speaking.. Karachi is ours, we will send these Pashtuns and Punjabis back to Lahore and wherever they came from.. go back to the shithole town you came from.. go infest Lahore or Islamabad and see if the Punjabis will welcome you and tolerate you like us Karachiites do!! IDPs my arse! Deport the Punjabis back to their rivers of honey and milk flowing Lahore!
Mods please take care of this guy spewing hate speech.

Politics of fear is nearly over in Karachi. Now MQM has to change her bargaining tactics with federal govt as this failed strike call has weaken the MQM' s position.

Agreed, Karachi must have its own local bodies and Mayor with authority and financial independence.

Another point to keep in mind.

The demographics of Karachi have changed significantly. Urdu Speaking Community which forms the core of MQM's support is no longer in the majority. Why do you think MQM is so deathly opposed to new census and updating electoral rolls? Its because they know they stand to loose electorally because of this.

Once the Census is conducted, ECP updates its electoral rolls, and new constituencies are created, only MQM stands to loose. The influx of other communities into Karachi has been massive in the last 10 years, we will get a better idea once Census are conducted. MQM due to its ethnic politics instead of progressive politics, has largely confined its vote bank to only a specific segment of the community. This bars its ability to grow its vote bank and engage in progressive politics.

Today's shutter down strike is ample evidence that MQM has lost its once feared street power. They don't have the same muscle anymore. Rangers have broken their back by smashing their militant wing, which forms the backbone of their power. Its high time this was done, no political party should be allowed to hold a Nation hostage at the behest of RAW.

Target Killing started after 2007

Zinda Laash

This is a totally wrong perception tht all urdu speaking community supports and vote for MQM... I belong to an urdu speaking family in karachi... My grandfather migrated from India ... But we do NOT support MQM..neither do we vote for them.. my father and grandfather voted for MQM only ONCE....tht was the first and last time...when MQM came into being..i think. 1985.. Thts what i heard from my father... After tht..no one from my home has ever voted for MQM... To see whole URdu speaking community as voters of MQM is wrong.. Infact i hate Altaf more than any other leader ..because he has given a bad name to our comunity..and everyone labels us as MQM voters.... Yes..ther are people who support MQM in our community ofcourse, but not everyone.. This distinction should be clear in every ones mind...
