Burma and North East India theater

Yes, but you are barking up the wrong tree, this insurgency is China's baby, so that is who you need to take it up with. We have nothing to do with it, just watching and trying to figure out what is going on in our neighborhood. That is not a crime or is it?

If someone can cut India into pieces, it is a country like China, not Bangladesh.

China is busy in Tibet and Xinjiang, no time to support your fantasy.

China is busy in Tibet and Xinjiang, no time to support your fantasy.

Please go back and read all the news articles I have posted, specially the ones in last few pages, your Indian reporters, defense and strategic analysts are saying otherwise. They are saying China is backing and directing North East insurgency. As an example, the Chinese have directed to create a unified team out of Maoists, and all different NE insurgent groups as a force multi-plier. The groups are currently under going this unification process.

‘China given evidence of its aid to NE insurgents’

India has given China evidence — on several occasions — of its involvement in aiding insurgency movements in India’s northeast, government officials have told HT.

“There was evidence that insurgents from India’s northeast were meeting Chinese intelligence officials regularly in Yunnan (China) and in Nepal. We tracked top NSCN (National Socialist Council of Nagaland) arms procurer Anthony Shimray who had ordered a massive supply of weapons. The procedures involved in shipment, export orders, regulatory compliances, etc are impossible without China’s involvement,” said GK Pillay, former home secretary.
“We have also given China details of Ulfa (United Liberation Front of Asom) chief Paresh Barua’s travel to Yunnan, including airline tickets, period of stay, etc,” he said.

In the past, India had always distinguished between state and non-state actors when it came to Chinese involvement.

“On several occasions, we have given concrete proof of certain elements from the Chinese establishment aiding northeast militants. The Chinese government, at least at the prefecture (provincial) level, was involved in such activity,” said a senior government official, who did not want to be named.

The evidence was also submitted to the ministry of external affairs, which took it up during the January 16-17 talks in New Delhi between national security adviser Shivshankar Menon and Dai Bingguo, China’s special representative, the official said.

The evidence mainly pertained to regular interactions of the insurgent leaders with Chinese intelligence agencies regarding supply and shipment of weapons to rebel outfits like Ulfa, NSCN, United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of Manipur.

Intelligence reports say fresh consignments — comprising weapons like Heckler and Koch rifles (HK 33), T81 rifles — have landed in the hands of the rebels in substantial numbers.

What is more worrying for India is the coming together of forces. “We have information that top Chinese intelligence officials have told all these outfits to unite under a single umbrella and devise joint strategies. We are witnessing that unification move now,” the official said.

China and India after 62' have been mature about their relationship.

And insurgency in NE I don't think has anything to do with China or Bangladesh for that matter.

Please read above post, China is behind NE insurgency. We, Bangladesh, need to be informed about what is going on in our neighborhood, no?

Keep on poonting about the past. :woot: Situation in North-East was grim in 80s-90s but improved a lot in last 10 years. Manipur has seen largest reduction in violence since 2003, current trends shows it will die down in few years(you can check for data also). Nagas are for peace deal, Mizos already did that in 1986 etc. etc.

And the Chinese part, China too lost much interest in North-East after Rajeev Gandhi visited China in 1988 to normalize relation. China know that we still have Tibet card with us, as we preferred not to use it for time being.

But still you want to sing "poont koira dimu" , your wish.

Who told you that china is not behind it?
Do u know that chinese factories inside burma (i dont the name of the place) produces the Arms which are given to NE insurgents?
i followed the interview of the RAw officer.
The Reason is that presently india is silent about china due to fear and dont want to blame china directly.Although few of the ministers raises concerns and gave their views on it but not much media attention is given to it since media is govt controlled.
It has nothing related wid Bd or less related coz they just provide shelter only not arms.
What u say that we provide shelter to tibetans and china will remain silent?

According to the IMF, Bangladeshi GDP per capita is $678. That's $60 below Haiti and ~$150 below Myanmar. Wow. I had no idea Bangladesh was so poor.

List of countries by GDP (nominal) per capita - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Forget about that... Now per capita GDP of Bangladesh based on 1995 base year is 848 usd ... and this is higher then Myanmar's 804 usd per capita gdp...

http://www.thedailystar.net/newDesign/news-details.php?nid=236919

But real GDP of Bangladesh is much higher then that as we measure GDP based on 1995 base year .... so many new emerging sector is not counted in GDP but those are contributing heavily to national economy ... So counting all these and massive black economy total gdp should be in between 160-200 billion usd which means per capita gdp should be in between around 1100-1400 usd at best.

Recently finance minister also indicated such by saying current GDP measurement is ridiculously low then the actual one as many sector is not counted in GDP...

Muhith: GDP terribly underestimated
Statistical data to be revised within a year, he says

UNBconnect... - Muhith: GDP terribly underestimated

Reported on: May 26, 2012 18:54 PM

Dhaka, May 26 (UNB) – Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Saturday said the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) is terribly underestimated despite having a better statistical system compared to many countries in the world.

“Our GDP is not simply underestimated, it’s terribly underestimated,” he told a function at the auditorium of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) in the city.

He said everything related to data calculation would have to be rethought for the betterment of the country and its economy. “We’re in a process to introduce a new statistical system after nearly 15 years…hope, we’ll be able to revise all the statistical data within a year. It’ll be good for the economy,” Muhith said.

Now how it is low... you can get the clue from this thread ...it describes how bulk of the big contributing sector is not counted in GDP...

I have shown China's involvement in NE insurgency without a doubt, please look at the date of the article:

Kallu instead of worrying about insurgency in North East India you should worry about your Bangladesh, half of which will be under water in the next 25-30 years. You should be more concerned about feeding your 250 million (projected) population on half the land that you currently have.

And all your wet dreams about Greater Bangladesh will not change the bottomline i.e. your country was an Indian Stooge, is an Indian Stooge and will always be an Indian stooge. You guys can only cry on Pdf.

A submerged BD will be a strength in disguise to go east and settle. This is what our Jihadi Mullahs are already doing in NE.

Last fiscal year's (ended in June) per capita GDP of BD stands at $848 and the GDP itself is $125 biilion. Add another $12.5 billion to the GDP to find that the GNI is almost $137.5 billion. So, the per capita GNI is $933. Burmese national GDP is less than $50 billion, perhaps. While BD's is a rising economy, Burma's is not. Burma's GDP is based more on its exports of minerals and it has a very small and weak manufacturing base.

Note also that the real BD GDP is much more than the declared one because it does not want to promote itself from the status of LDC. However beggerly it may be, an LDC country always gets preferential treatment from the developed west and Japan. We need such helps.

Do not please compare with your little GDP with ours. Ours will rise to $133 billion at the end of this fiscal. However, I acknowlege that Burma has a lot of natural resources to be tapped, it was called the rice basket of Asia before the 2nd WW. But, it has adopted a policy of cutting its own feet by employing a self-imposed seclusion.

I am not here to compete with what you say. But, things must be cleared. I hope, your military backed new President will lead your country to a new economic rise. His Excellency the President will visit our country on 15th of next month. I do not just know if this will be his 1st ever foreign visit after taking Office. We hope this visit will bring a tangible result good for both the countries and the region. We give very importance to Burma and this visit.
